Product Rating Product Review Sold my grandmother after getting this. The for factor is a bit small, but the sound is huge! The ability to save presets in a home studio set up is gold.

Product Review I bought it based on the YouTube video that Roland made about it. I know the video was a sales pitch, turns out it was accurate. The unit looks like a simple, three-oscillator analog synth. Way more. Try the XMOD on a preset. Plugged in headphones, they buzzed on the low end. Plugged it into a keyboard amp, got skittish I would blow out the speaker. The high-end reminded me of 80's-era Roland gear. Bright and clear. Studio Electronics has been working with analog synthesis for decades after digital took over. Roland engineers could make toast out of manure. Highly recommended.

Product Review This little synth has a big sound inside of it. Needed a small footprint but got way more than I expected. Who says size matters?

Product Review It is small but sounds very good. It is an analog monosynth with 3 oscillator but has an electronic circuit - which enable to save the patch setting to PC editor. You can create various sounds and can download commercial level sound patch from internet. Its 16 step sequencer is a great tool for live performance. I like the best that this synth can be controlled by MIDI, USB cable. It has CV inputs for pitch and filter. I use my EWI with midi-to-cv interface, which makes SE02 very responsive to my breath control. Only limitation is that it has 1-voice polypony. This is my 3rd analog synth (microbrute, moog mother 32) and I like SE02 the best.

Product Review Really like this for bass and leads. I already have a pair of Moog Mother 32 semimodulars so the Roland SE-02 was appealing to me as a slightly different more aggressive take on the classic D-style (can we call it D-style?) voicing that still has midi and cv control. The sequencer and patch memories make the SE-02 a thoroughly modern instrument. Kudos to Roland for robust USB for connecting to DAWs as well (great for traveling with a laptop). As an aside - the SE02 is exactly the same footprint as the Mother 32 - it's eerie. I may see if I can build a third tier stand. Giving the SE02 4 stars for the one obvious caveat - it is very small which hinders real-time tweak-ability. It was included with mine but I am not a fan of the Roland boutique bag - the SE02 does not take batteries and there's no pockets for power cord, cables, headphones. The bag would be more useful if it had more storage.

Product Review They say big things come in small sizes, that sums up this synth with deep bass, ease of use, the ability create your own sound at your finger tips, midi compatibility is great.

Product Review My knowledge on analog synths are pretty limited, but the SE-02 sounds awesome. The filter is super clean, and you can get some great bass sounds and unique mono leads with this device. Just started using it a few weeks back, but the Se-02 always sits lovely in my mixes. The synth also has an input jack so that you you can use the filter and fx with external audio sources. Useful and fun tool

Product Review The Roland Boutique SE-02 is like having a MiniMoog in small travel size. But it goes a little further than a MiniMoog as far as creating new patches. The sound is very warm and filters sound amazing the is a key buy for any electronic musician

Product Review Dont let the small size fool you. This is a full featured synth that will fulfill pretty much any roll. I am still getting to grips with its subtleties and when I think, what if? I haven't been disappointed yet. Yes, its a bit fiddly at times, but well worth the effort of getting a working feel for the front panel, as you can have it to hand, given its small footprint. Output connections are as solid as they can be, give that they are miniature in size. I wouldn't recommend putting them in any scenario where they could be hit, and put a 90 degree connector on the audio out.

Product Review A great little synth, 3 oscillators and filter, and plenty of mods. For the price, the size, and the versatility, the SE-02 is a great purchase. However, due to the filter and the system architecture, it may be great, but not really a Minimoog.

Product Review Sounds great and feels sturdy. I compare its sound to my dotcom modular synth which is impressive considering the size difference. My only small gripes are it runs a little more not than I would expect from a modern piece of gear, the other is the filter steps at full resonance but can be circumvented by using the contour knob or lfo which will not cause stepping. If you want a portable synth that has that American synth tone don't hesitate on this. All functions immediately map to controllers too so it's very compatible and functional
