Like everything I have ever bought from Roland/Boss, it is very well made and delivers an enjoyable experience.
I wish the power cord was a little nicer and that it was easier to tweak, but, I'm sure it will be easy enough.

Great & compact drum kit replacement

Product Review
This is a great drumkit replacement. The sensors are sensitive and responsive. You can combine multiple sounds per pad and this pairs well with the Roland FD9 HiHat controller and KT-10 kick drum trigger pedal (both great compact replacements as well).
Buy if you don't have room for a large kit. You can always expand your setup with more triggers (like cymbals etc). So you can start small and grow your setup.
This simulates the feeling of a full kit fairly well. You won't be dissappointed.

Not only did the octapad blow me away, but the customer service was in incredible. I love how they give me the option to pay as I play, being a college student money is really tight so then giving me this option was incredible. Any questions, I had they were quick with a response thank you guys so much!

This is my first Roland octopad, I have added to my live kit and love it! You can create your own sounds and instruments with what Roland provides, which is over 100 kits. I mainly use the Octopad for recording and phrase looping which has helped me with my timing a lot. The only downside is you can’t add samples but there is a ton of other features that makes up for it.

Amazing Percussion Pad!!!
By: Rick Watkins
Submitted: 7/28/2020
Product Review
I don’t call myself a drummer but I do produce/play music with guitar and normally program drum beats. I wanted something more than a midi pad to be able to easily play without a computer. This paired with my keyboard guitar and loop station are any musicians dream. The sounds are better than any of the stock ones in my daw (FL Studio). With a little tweaking of the settings I can get almost any percussion sound I want. It’s seems very sturdy and it’s very intuitive to use. I don’t miss the sampling ability because my looper has that functionality. While some samplers may have more features, I don’t think the built in drum sounds will sound as good as these.

This thing has outstanding sound quality and more sounds than anything else I've seen. Easy to use and to save sounds to the pads. I bought a more expensive Roland VDrums set which didnt comare in quality and sounds of the Octapad. Top notch.

Incredibly Realistic Sounds
By: E J

Product Review
I'm absolutely stunned by the quality of the Roland SPD-30 Octapad. Not only is it built like a tank but the realism and adjustability of the sounds is absolutely breathtaking. I was able to jump right in and start using it immediately right out of the box before reading the manual. But after a little study I was able to unlock even more features including adjusting the controls for realistic high hat performance using FD-9 pedal.
I record with the Octapad as well as playing it through a powered speaker. The pads are completely assignable and a pleasure to play on.

Straight out of the box I was able to play on it! The sound bank is superb and the interface is very well lit and organized. I am pretty technically inclined and I had little to know knowledge of this machine but I was able to navigate the different menus with relative ease.
However, I did have to use YouTube to learn how to program it. The encyclopedia that comes with the machine is very detailed but it requires a lot of reading and isn't as user friendly or as informative for a quick read as some instruction booklet I've used in the past.

Great Product, does what I need it to do
By: Carl F. from Denver, CO

Extremely well made. Updated to version 2 of the firmware without issue. Have yet to have any problem with product.
Sounds are top notch, love the phrase loop function, although it can be a little tough to dial in tempo on setting loops at first. It would be nice to be able to use at least a few of your own samples, but Roland has another flagship product for this. I purchased a snare trigger and kick drum trigger to beef up my live acoustic kit, and they work great.
The samples sound great and there are tons of them...
Your general opinion of this product.
I purchased this to run some on stage phrase loops, to beef up my acoustic set on a few songs with triggers, and use for recording. It excels at all of the above.
yes
the pads scuff up but are easily cleaned just like the rubber v-drum pads.

Seems solid, well made. Just bought an SPD30 to replace a Roland TD4 that I bought in 1996- and still works fine.
I'm a guitar player. When electronic drums became available in the 90s I thought "these are gonna be great for home recording"- and they still are. Huge sounds direct in. Great for people who resist programming/drum software.
Sounds like the diverse world we live in. Rock players may complain about the lack of dedicated rock "kits". But those can be easily created and altered. The layers of sound possibilities are endless!
Your general opinion of this product.
Fun to play and edit. Contains many sounds I had never really "considered", and gets me experimenting...
I'm older. I think all equipment is underpriced! (Ha!) The ease of recording great drum sounds make this thing priceless. (Same goes for the Line 6.)
Nice size and look. Pads feel great and are responsive. The white model has an Apple look to it- goes great with a Mac. I did not buy the stand- I'm using a small table which works fine- but I do like how it looks on the stand.

I have only owned it for a short time, but yes I am very comfortable with the workmanship. It feels sturdy and not fragile.
The sounds are amazing, and what is cool is that you can tune them all to just the depth or timbre you want. An awesome feature!!
Yes, without a doubt. With the addition of all of the sounds that it brings to the table, it is well worth the money
