It is a great advancement over the one I had been using for about 20 years. Nice to be rid of the 9-volt batteries. I just plug in to recharge after each gig. Seems to be working great. Everyone says the sound is much better.

Been using this mic on saxophones and its easy to use. You can charge while in use (it your can remain stil enough) Range is excellent as well as frequency agility.
The mute and volume on controls on the transmitter are a God send as the mic is incredibly hot and it's great to be able to mute it while switching horns. After three years of use at least 2hours four times a week,battery life is now starting to suffer. Soundmen will need add both a highpass filter to get rid of any bottom end rumble but also need to rolll off a bit of the highs to get rid of harshness.
The main cons for saxophones and this mic are that it easily picks up handling noise. Not only the normal key click and thunks but for example, even rubbing the instrument against the clothing is picked up. The other issue is the goose neck has its own idea about its ideal shape and doesn't always remain in the exact placement position desired.
Overall a decent sax mic, with poor physical isolation. Durable and dependable.

The microphone in awesome. I use this unit for my alto sax, with a new mouth piece. I like how easy the set is. The tone is a quality sound. Each time I play I feel like I own the room.
I love my new partner!
It is a very handsome piece of equipment. I used it for a big performance and the audience could not see it a, so when I showed it off, my fans were so impressed. Very sexy unit.

I bought this to use with my trombone and I’m BLOWN AWAY. There’s clearance for bucket and Harmon mutes, clips very securely to the bell, and the light keeps me from forgetting to unmute the transmitter. The all metal chassis of the receiver is well built, and the sound quality is superb. My trumpet player friend bought one as soon as he saw and heard mine. I’d definitely recommend this wireless mic.

I am so excited to finally have a mic that I can confidently use on any stage.. The setup is effortless and I just love the no hassle rechargable battery.. not to mention being able to mute and power down mic myself.. Just picked up the new AWX and compared it to my Samson Airline 77 and the new AWX is much more responsive than the 77. Only one consideration for improvement would be to include a wind screen as the AWX responsiveness picks up much of the key sound, so a better wind screen or including a separate wind screen would up the rating from 4 to 5.

I cannot comment to durability since I got the mic yesterday, but I was so impressed by the mic at my show last night that I wanted to share a review. I’ve been a gigging Sax player for many years and own four other brands of wireless mics (I never found what I envisioned as a perfect mic until now). The Samson AWX is the clear winner for sound quality and functionality. I use in-ear monitors and couldn’t believe the tone of the new Samson mic. My Sax has never sounded so thick and rich through my wireless mics. My band mate has the Samson 88, and it does not come close to the sound quality of the new AWX,. I was also thoroughly impressed beyond tone. The mic has six volume levels that you can use on the actual transmitter (mic) so you can easily turn up if the sound man isn’t paying attention to a solo. The mute button works well. Finally, a company is using a lithium rechargeable battery (can order replacement if needed) so I don’t have to use a 9v or AA at every gig.
