Product Rating Product Review I have developed some hand issues and unless I stay up on strength exercises for my fretting hand, I have some difficulty dealing with the neck on my 13 year old, major brand name dreadnaught acoustic / electric. This Seagull is my lifesaver. The neck is a great hybrid between an acoustic and my electrics. The nut is nearly 1 3/4 inches and that makes fretting very nice for my chubby fingers. The tone and projection unplugged is very nice and amped up it sounds fantastic. The fit and finish is exemplary for a guitar at this price point. And the final point that really made me pull the trigger on this on short notice (had to sing at a funeral...I'm a minister)was it is all wood...no composites or engineered materials and it's made in Canada...not a far east import. You could spend a lot more and still not get an instrument as nice as this one.

Product Review nice guitar--the pick up system is the only negative--I would probably buy one without the Q1T pickup system and look at something else.

Product Review I would have given this guitar five stars except for the fact that the action was so high when I received it that it was almost unplayable. That's not the fault of American Musical Supply.... The manufacturer sets the instruments up. After fixing the problem the guitar plays and sounds amazing for an instrument of this price. I just wasn't expecting to have to get a new guitar worked on before it was playable. And I'm not complaining about it being a "little off". It was a hair under 1/4 inch high at the 14th fret. The instrument came with the check off list from Godin that said the action was checked out prior to leaving the factory. I'm not sure that was actually done. Other than that the guitar is built very well, the tuners hold tune very well, the finish and binding look great and the neck is straight. The frets are perfect and rosewood on the fretboard is nice and dark. A really good looking guitar overall. The electronics function as they should and the sound is really amazing.

Amazing mid-price acoustic

Extremely well made, really nice wood and overall a beautiful guitar. I've only had it for about 3 months, but no problems so far. Your general opinion of this product. This is my first "real" acoustic (the starter pack one doesn't count) and I honestly couldn't be happier with this purchase. In the price range of $500 and under, it beats out competitors like Ibanez, Fender, and Yamaha. The is a little bit thick as compared to an electric, which is absolutely normal for acoustics. I actually love how the neck is satin finish, its so comfortable and easy to move around. I haven't plugged it in all that much, but the tuner is really easy to use. The top is cedar, which is different from spruce because cedar has a lot more mid-range and I would say less base. The base on this guitar doesn't boom out like a Martin, and if I had to pick one bad thing about the sound I would pick the lack of base. However, the mids and highs sound absolutely amazing. The finish is satin, which looks very nice, however there's no gloss, so its very easily dented and scratched. Like I said, I've only had this a couple of months and there are a couple of tiny nicks in the finish just from regular use. Nothing that detracts from the overall look, but just something to note. I actually bought this from a music store, so this question doesn't really apply. But, one thing with acoustics is that humidity plays a huge factor. So I ended up having to adjust the truss rod a couple times to stop the neck from bowing in the changing humidity and changing strings. But now I am 100% happy with the action, I didn't even need a professional set-up.
