I bought the Black Winter Neck pickup and discovered it did not match well with the stock bridge pickup on my Ibanez guitar. So, I bought the Bridge Black Winter to match. This combination is awesome. Chunking with the best of them now. The sustain is insane...Way Fun!!!

A nice alternative to EMGs, similar output with a little more "oomph" to cut through a dense mix with high gain. Bonus: super easy to install and no fussing with batteries. 10/10 would buy again (I have them in 2 different les pauls)

The Black Winter is another excellent sounding pickup by Seymour Duncan. Great for metal and cleans up nicely when it needs to. Can handle the lowest of tunings.

There's plenty of things to be said about this pickup and most has already been said. This has a sound like no other. It's hard to explain but its brite and kicks ass in the mids. Bass is great too and to get a decent clean just roll back the volume.
If your on the fence about getting this don't be I was going to install SD invaders but this is way better. Nothing wrong with invaders but the winters are darker and more aggressive.
A must have if you like extreme metal.

I bought one of these to try to get a good sound of an old LTD I've had for years that never sounded very good, but played great. I installed this pickup in the bridge and upon plugging into my Marshall half-stack was immediately blown away by the sound. This is exactly what I was looking for to get that awesome metal sound. Super heavy but super clear at the same time. Short of EMG 81/85/60s which I love, this is probably the best pickup I've ever heard for heavy metal and rock. Stop wasting time and go buy one of these! I'll be putting these in more guitars for sure!

I got the neck pickup for my LTD EC-301. It came with some cheap ESP active pickups in it that I absolutely hated. I paired it with an Invader in the bridge. The combo of these two pickups is absolutely amazing. I tend to hate most neck pickups as they sound muddy to me, and too fuzzy. This one is amazingly articulate. The clarity of the notes being play is mind boggling. Even chords sound good in heavy distortion. You can honestly hear each note sing through just fine. Awesome sustain, and just overall perfect for what I needed it for. IF you play rock/metal this pickup with be your best friend. Don't limit it to those genres though, it sounds awesome when I'm picking some blues, and even on clean channels as well.

After an exhaustive search for pickups, I installed a pair of these in my Jackson RR3. I can say with confidence these are hands down the best pickups I've ever played! Tight, clear, and MEAN. My band plays metal and these are the absolute perfect match for our style.
Don't let the fact that these pickups are marketed toward metal guitarists turn you off, though. They're also amazing for blues and classical stylings as well. The perfect balance of EQ in these makes them stable and strong in all genres.
I'll definitely purchase a second set of Black Winter pickups for my other RR3, and recommend them to anyone looking to step up their playing and tone!
