Product Rating Product Review I first installed this in an acoustic that didn't have electronics. But once I got a new Gibson J-45 Modern, I replaced the stock pickup with this system. It blows a piezo-only pickup system away. Specifically, though, I chose this particular system for a few reasons: 1. I can't stand under-saddle piezo pickups. 2. Systems from LR Baggs and Fishman required gluing under the saddle. I wanted to install the system myself, and I didn't fancy the idea of gluing (yeah, yeah, I'm a bit of a sissy about it). :) 3. From what I could glean from watching several videos, the sound quality was EXCELLENT. 4. I saw this installed in a couple of my favorite guitarists' guitars. Pro use is a big endorsement. In particular, I saw this installed in Kyle Hearn's (Rebelution) guitar. 5. Finally, Seymour Duncan is a brand I've trusted over the years, and I have several electric guitars with different SD pickups in them. In a word, this pickup system is AWESOME! The magnetic pickup is tuned to pick up the lows and mid-lows, while the microphone is tuned to pick up the mids and highs. The microphone gain knob (closest to the high E string) controls the amount of microphone that is added to the mix of the two but essentially acts as a high-cut filter or treble knob. The combination of the two types of pickups creates a rich and dynamic tone that you can dial in for any guitar. I normally roll off just a little of the microphone gain (this avoids feedback issues if playing near an amp). I never roll it off a whole lot because though it's tuned for mids and highs, it also provides depth and dimension to the overall sound. For me as an active, gigging musician, this pickup system is a must-have. For some people, a soundhole pickup isn't their thing. I get that. But for me, it's the sound that counts, and this pickup delivers!

Product Review I used in two days after it arrived on My 67 Epiphone. Everyone commented on my sound being both responsive and with clarity. You know you get what you pay for.

Product Review I had this installed in my 1998 Yamaha LS400 and it sounds amazing. The guitar is similar in specs to a Martin 000-18 to give this some reference. The pickup has both a magnetic humbcuker and a microphone the controls are simply a volume and a blend control. I normally use just the microphone since I have a very percussive style of play. I took a leap of faith from the easy purchase of LR Baggs or Fishman - I love those brands but my guitar is black so I did not want cream pickup in the sound hole. This will be the only pickup I ever install in an acoustic. I play this thru a Fishman Mini Loudbox and a PA - both setups sound incredible. I may need to dial back the mic blend when I play outside if feedback becomes an issue. Buy this with confidence.
