Product Review SM-48 is a quality mic for everyday use. I've seen these get used and abused, still in there working! Shure quality. From AMS, get the Microphone, stand and cable combination to score a real bargain. I've just acquired a used small PA system, and this helps get it operational. I'm a happy camper!

Product Review This mic sounds clean and clear. It works wonderfully live, and in live recordings. I also use SM58s and my ears can't tell the difference.

Product Review Standard Shure fair here with a fantastic price. The math on paper reads it’s not as full sounding as my Sm58s...I barely notice the slightly decreased frequency range. Great build even better price. 9/10 would recommend for live sound vocal applications.

Product Review To my ear, this sounds 90 percent as good as an SM58. One caveat is, after many years of playing live, my hearing isn't what it used to be. Half the price and most audiences would hear no difference. Buy one as a spare and A/B 'em. You'll be shocked, rather, surprised at evquality.

Product Review Good clarity, very well built, sounds fantastic. Mine was supposed to come with optional on/off switch but didn't, not going to fret about it as it is a fantastic mic and the added freebies more than make up for it.

Your general opinion of this product. One might think that the SM48 is no more than a cheap alternative to the 58 for those who can't afford the 'real thing.' However, it is a quite different microphone with its own strengths. The element in the 48 is actually the same as that used in the 55 'Elvis' mike and they do sound rather similar. It may be in the same ballpark as an SM58 but one can tell they are not the same. You may or may not like one better than the other -- I prefer the 48, myself, at least on my own voice. Like its Shure brethren (SM57, 58, etc) it seems to border on indestructible. It's a hand-held microphone with good handling noise rejection. Not much to go wrong there. Tight enough pattern to work well on stage too. However, the SM48 is a gain-hungry mike, more so than the SM58. Make sure your preamps are up to the task. It's cheap, dependable, and sounds decent. What more does one need in a stage mike?

Excellent Microphone--nearly as good as the SM58 BETA I have been using for 7 years

Your general opinion of this product. When I needed microphones for my expanding band, my first instinct was to buy SHURE. I couldn't afford to get the ones I wanted, the SM58 BETA, so I found these SM48 mics which were more within my budget. Honestly, I was not expecting much from a fifty dollars microphone. The real plus was the free cable and stand that came with it. I purchased three and figure that, since they are made by SHURE, they can't suck at least! When they arrived I immediately set them up and tried them out and was pleasantly surprised with the sound they produced, compared side-by side with the SM58 BETA I have been in love with for seven years. I am very pleased with the quality, and the sound quality they produce. And I am REALLY pleased to have the bonus stands and cables! Nice work, AMS!! THANKS! Very well made. Nice heft. Same as the SM58 BETA. Simple. Plug-and play! Excellent piece of equipment. Internal pop filter, wind filter, and stainless steel grate. Excellent! Better than I expected!

Super Deal!

Sturdy, well built with metal case and grille. It is very dependable as I use it as my main vocal microphone. It holds the cable very tight which is good in order to maintain a continuous signal. I've used other branded microphones costing more and had problems keeping the cable very tight making the connection unstable which led to low signal and/or intermittent interruptions. I had to fix the problem with duct tape to prevent the cable connection stable. Can't be made easier to use. Just plug and play. The Shure SM48 reproduces my voice with no coloration. Very clear and accurate. Good sensitivity, I don't have to get too close to it in order to make myself heard. That's a big plus as I play my guitar and sing at the same time.
