This kit isn't terrible by any means, but you'll want new heads. Wasn't a fan of the brass Meinls either, so the cymbals had to go. The black hardware is a nice touch but a lug screw on the bass drum was bent on arrival. The shining star of this bundle is the hardware. Stands are of a great quality and the quick release nuts are awesome. Bass pedal and snare stand are solid.
This would make a good beginner kit, but expect to upgrade things as you progress.
Side note:
This product comes in two separate boxes. I was shipped two of the same box and had to exchange one for the correct box. Process took about a week and a half. AMS was very accommodating of the transaction.

This is like a dream come true set for me! Way nicer than the mess around on kits I've had in past to learn on. The White Birch wraps, black chrome metal, and Tama quality is just beautiful to behold!
I was wanting a kit like this for years and saw it on sale right before the world turned upside down. I'm glad I got it after all regardless. The Rock Star pmts are perfect, customer service and shipping was 5 stars!
I can easily recommend this kit to anyone, and AMS as a wonderful resource! Oh yeah, the hardware.... 5 stars also! Iron Cobra pedal kicks butt, hi hat pedal man stand equally as cool. The whole drum and hardware quality is heavy duty beyond the price range I paid!
Super happy, super grateful!

I come from a a family of drummers, So I’ve played on a lot of drum sets such as a Sonor, DW, Yamaha, Pearl , etc.... And I was blown away by the sound of this drum set for the price. Mind you, I did buy some Remo pinstripe heads because I was not too impressed with Tama heads that came with it. The cymbals are your pretty basic starter kit kind of cymbal set. The hardware on the other hand is beautiful, sturdy and I love the cymbal quick releases they came with. In conclusion I was sold head over heals from the beautiful black nickel finish on all the shells, to the brilliant sound this affordable kit Tama has came out with. Overall 10/10 in my book for the price and not to mention the affordable payment plans.

I moved to this from an electronic set (Roland TDK-11 with full mesh heads) so being my first full acoustic set there was some was some adjusting and a lot of learning.
Pros: For the price point the drum set sounds great, the cymbals are mediocre but are exactly what you should expect from a budget set. The finish on the wood is gorgeous (got the white with black nickle hardware) and seems like its going to hold quite well over the years.
The toms out of the box sound great after tuning and some adjusting.
The snare has a great sound just has an annoying ring at lower tuning. (I've tried adjusting the spring/higher tuning on the bottom)
The bass drum sounds great and is easy to set up.
Cons:
The hardware.
The ring on the snare comes up too high for..??? I forget the technique but when you hit the ring of the snare and the center at the same time it makes a sound.
The way the tom adjustment is set up is a terrible concept. You honestly can't adjust it as it shows in EVERY SINGLE picture.. they are way too low and the toms will be making wood to wood contact with the bass drum. Extremely annoying. Even if you can manage to get them in place, adjusting is extremely annoying to get it to get into very basic positions.
Overall its a great set, looking forward to upgrading the heads, changing out the tom bracket and a killer snare. (Going to start with a little squealer and maybe down the road a black beauty or super phonic) and upgrading to a custom zildjian cymbal set then upgrading to new shells.
So... It's a perfect place to start and come with everything you need minus a pair of sticks.
