I mainly bought this drum kit to save space in my house and didn't have super high expectations, but this kit actually sounds pretty good. I was especially impressed with how full the bass drum sounded. Just add some quality drum heads and you should be good to go.

The bass drum really packs a nice punch, I was afraid it wouldn’t sound deep enough but I was able to get the sound I wanted without having such a big bass drum. The little Tom goes slightly out of tune after a little while but both the toms sound great when you dial them in.

Dad picked me up a drum set and some cassettes at age 11… never looked back!! Fast forward…. Joined the U.S NAVY and said set found a new home.. I’m 35 now and ready to put my rhythm back on the table and TAMA and AMS has made that a reality!!

The color is brilliant. Set up was easy. The sound was much more than I expected. If you want a kit that's easy to brake down and set up, this is your kit. Oh and the cymbal stand connected to the Bass Drum, is a throwback to my first Drumkit. I Love this Drumkit.

This is probably by far the Best size kit that still delivers great sound attack and power. Convenient to take to gigs and smaller enough to fit in my trunk. By the way, did I mention how great the set sounds. Of course I had to change the heads from the factory heads that was provided. However, I love them. I would definitely recommend this drum set for anyone, from Beginners to Professional.

The Tama Club Jam KIT ??
Man i love this little kit , I read reviews and they seem to get awesome marks , I pulled the trigger on them and was surprised that they were made in Taiwan instead of China like most badges showed , which I like , I would love made in The USA , but they are well built ,and look pretty Retro , I changed all the batter heads to Ambassador coated and the bass batter to a Evens EMAD2 clear and it sounds GREAT .
They were packed well from the factory and was a breeze to put together , the Aqua Blue is a cool color , very Retro too ,I bought the kit with the bags and they are decent bags for the price and look cool with the Tama logo , I’ve only had them a couple days but so far I’m digging these and Kudos to American Musical supply for the Great Customer service and help finding this kit for my needs and also giving me the Rock star status and 12 payment plan which is AWESOME ??

This drum set is a killer little thumper. I've previously owned several other mini kits from Ludwig and Pearl and this is my favorite by far. It has such a warm perfect punch, but still with body to the sound. If the 6 lug kick is making you hesitate, DON'T. It doesn't sound as choked off as other mini kits, and the cases that they offer as an add on are surprisingly nice. Hardware on the kit is sturdy and finish is superb. Overall, Tama nailed this one.

This little kit has a great sound for its size. Tama quality is unmistakable, but there are a few corners cut to ensure price is kept down. The snare, and bass drum would benefit from 8 lugs but still very serviceable with 6 with the right heads. That being said even with stock heads these drums sound good, so with the right heads they sound great. Overall though these are really good drums.

Don't be fooled... this kit is perfect for small venues, or places that have terrible room acoustics. The 18" kick drum is super solid with plenty of warmth and punch. Extremely happy with this investment!

This kit sounds absolutely amazing you may want to switch to your preferred heads but other than that is pretty cool and it's excellent for the road trips and I really loved the fact that they came with cases you can't beat that I haven't seen another drum kit that came with the cases I love it

Thank you Tama for creating the best, on the spot, in and out drum set on the market! I have had this drum set for about 8 months or so and it is definitely my drum of choice for most occasions.
I purchased their satin blonde model with the tama cases and could not be happier with the look and feel of the drums, as well as the construction and detail of the cases!
At first I wasn't sure if I would use the 13" snare as my main snare drum or as a back up but once I placed a new set of heads and tuned it up, the choice was made for me!
To play the kind of music my band requires, my kick drum needs to be more involved with added punch, I had worked with an 18" kick before but it was a different depth. Still, I was hopeful that I would get a good sound, judging by the videos I heard on youtube.
Boy was a shocked, amazed and extremely pleased all at the same time! I put an evans e mad on the batter side and a small towel inside. I added a kick drum lift that I had from the previous kick and I also changed the spurs to some that I had with extenders so that I could hit directly in the center of the drum.
Anyhow, we played a gig for the Astros during the World Series this past year and the venue provided the sound crew. Well, the crew saw the kit and said, "I don't know if that's going to cut through or not but we'll see." The sound engineer looked and me and said "Oh, it's gonna cut through alright!"
WOW!!! He was not kidding!!! Stadium drum sound all day, all night, all week, all month, all year, etc...!!!
The features that stand out the most to me about my satin blonde is the subtle elegance. I can play this drum set at any gig and it would hold up visually and musically. This drum set not only met my expectations but it blew them out of the water!
I am especially excited at this moment because I just realized that I have a 3 day show at the Houston cook off this weekend and that same sound company is doing our show!!! (I can send audio, let me know)
All in all, I LOVE this kit! It is compact. It packs many punches. It loads in and out. It is almost weight less. If you have a dolly or hand cart, it'll take you 2 trips max to get in and out. (oh the pesky hardware) There is an extension on top of the bass drum that is pictured on websites as putting a ride on it, I do not. I'm sure it'll hold through the test of time but I'd rather use it to hold any one of my splashes and or bells. Thank you, that is all!

Absolutely Amazing kit..... I’ve owned several Tama kits and this one is perfect.... great sound and well worth the money!! They sound bigger than they are... Aquarian Super Kick II on the bass drums is nasty!!

This for me was a fantastic buy being a traveling musician, when playing local when not lugging my big drum set out, this kit is compact and well put together, with the right heads this kit has the sound of a much larger drum set, everyone couldn’t believe the sound that was coming out of this set, especially when microphone down. I bought these for my kids to have a better than “kid kit” drumset that would last them a while. I knew with tama I’d get better hardware on the drums than the other makers. Not disappointed. Was able to dial them in pretty quickly - except the snare. There’s no snarebeds cut. It’s only 6 lugs, and it took a while to beat it into submission to make it sound like something. There was also some glue residue left over on the kick in the bottom which was pretty disappointing. All that said, I still give it 5 stars. For $399, it’s an amazing deal for the quality of the kit and sound. I would have no hesitation to take this kit out and play it myself.

I love the drum, in fact I'm used it almost every week for church gig and other gig I have. The Tom and the snare was the winner the sound is so powerful even in smaller diameter.

Sooo, initially I ordered these drums for myself. They were to be used in my new music room at home. When I received them, I eagerly began putting them together. My first thought was the size was not for me, too small. My 12 year old walks in and falls in love with the set. I asked how he would like them as his 13th Birthday gift. His eyes lit up and he became more excited than I have seen in a while, if ever! Sooo, he helps me put them together which was very easy, and the set started coming together. We put a nice set of Ludwig lower end hardware from AMS, also very sturdy, with a used set of Zildjan cymbals I had and... I was amazed at the sound of this lil set. First of all, was not as small as I thought initially, and the sound wowed me! The set is beautiful and would have served my every need, but he fell in love with them. They have taken the place of his desk and videos game table in his room, and I am shopping again??

They say you get what you pay for, but that doesn't apply to these drums! This kit is extremely inexpensive for their quality and sound! I paired mine with Remo Vintage Ambassadors and couldn't be happier. The size is perfect for a pocket kit,for those smaller venues, but does not compromise on sound. Even the build quality is great. No complaints AT ALL.

This kit is awesome! Its compact but sounds huge sound! I have two bigger kits with 20” and 22” bass drums but I plan on taking these out out more often than those now! Get this kit, you won’t be disappointed. The drums are really light and you could carry them all in one hand if you wanted. The snare and floor tom go in the same bag with a pad that separates them. The cymbal arm on the kick drum is awesom because it allows you to have a smaller foot print

Don't let the price or the sizes of the shells fool you. This little kit packs some punch! The only thing missing is some quality heads but that's reflective of the price point. That being said, I upgraded the kick batter to an Evans UV1 EMAD (no port in the factory reso) and the toms to coated G2 over clear G1. The kick sounds deep and punchy and has a really pleasant tone to it even with a small amount of muffling inside. The toms came alive with the coated heads... really warm with plenty of attack. One could use this kit for a small coffeehouse gig playing acoustic jams but versatile for traditional higher jazz tunings as well. The build quality is VERY good. A final suggestion would be longer bass drum spurs and a kick riser. All aside, a great sound and value for the money!

I bought this kit, over 3 weeks ago. The sound quality is amazing, for a small kit. I live in an apartment, so I put silent stroke heads on it, and I use Zildjian low volume cymbals and hihat, the standard heads are ok, I think a higher quality head, would improve the sound quality, and performance. The hardware is quality made, the shells are well made, and the pait quality is amazing. Zi am so happy I went with this kit.

I wasn't sure about this drumkit at first because of the 13" floor tom. I thought it would lose it's tone but I was wrong. I absolutely love this kit! It's mobile and it has definitely cut my set up time in half. I had a gig about two weeks ago and the artist I was playing with gave it the "stank face"! It's a keeper!

Needed a third kit for rehearsals and small coffee house gigs. I play in a Blues/Soul 7 piece band and needed something that would be softer yet be able to cut thru when called for. This kit does that and more. A few minor adjustments and head changes and I was good to go. Can't beat it for the price.

This little kit was going to be my practice kit. But my gig kit did not make it to the show on time so I used this Awesome little kit. I was very pleased with the low punch from the massive 18" kick drum. The snare tuned up very easy and the toms were very easy to get in tune also. I play many styles and don't think I will have any trouble getting them to work for my shows. Plus they are very portable, and great for small stages. But I would use them on any stage. These drums just sound great. Can't beat them for the price.

I just purchased the Tama Club Jam kit in turoquoise. I have used it on two gigs. On gig was a jazz gig and the other was an R&R gig. The set performed superbly both. As usual though, the snare was thrown in and I doubt that I will ever have any use for the snare. This kit is really special though. Just the most minute amount of tension change on the heads make it sound differently. I am going to use the stock heads also. Another fine product from Tama I would recommend this kit to anybody from 8 to 80. The only reason I did not give this kit a 5 rating was because of the snare drum.

I've been looking for a small, punchy kit for awhile...just for fun. I stumbled across this one day while browsing through AMS and I was HOOKED. The color and size got me along with the price. Had to wait a month to get it but I've played it for hours every day since it came. Replaced the snare head first thing with an Evans EC1 Reverse Dot - good move. With some repositioning of the wires and tuning, I am VERY pleased with the tone. The tom heads are junk, especially the 10" but this is to be expected with stock skins. Going to pick up some replacements for those. Otherwise this kit is a dream. It's compact in size but uncompromising in tone. I play mostly worship and small gigs in the city doing covers of pop, country, folk, etc and this kit works in all settings. I'm looking forward to micing it up and seeing how it records. I'm not totally sold on the ride arm. It feels weird to me. Probably will use a boom stand but still. I'm in love. Thanks AMS and TAMA!
