I have had this item for a couple of years. It developed a ground hum and when I called AMS, I was referred to the manufacturer. After several emails to TEAC this is the result: No reply to a growing problem, only email for promotions on Tascam products that I will NEVER buy again. Having discovered ZOOM recording devices, I am hooked. While the Tascam has lost output everywhere except the headphones, my ZOOM clearly recorded a Native group singing and drumming. I am headed over now to get more ZOOM gear!

I just gently purchased this mixer to go along with the Akai MPC X and I am overly impressed with how it sounds. This mixer's compatibility with my other equipment goes beyond expectations. The Tascam Model series is one of the best investments I have made and I can truly say that the company knocked it out the gate with this one. The features that stand out the most are the EQ's and compressors. They are perfect in their own way. If you are in the market for a new mixer then look no further.

We've only had this for a few months, but it's been great so far for recording practice sessions and worked perfectly for a live bar gig. Easy set-up and straightforward compatibility, plugged in and everything was good to go. It's a nice looking piece of equipment and it has all sorts of bells and whistles like Bluetooth connectivity; functions analog but also includes has a digital processor with a range of reverb effects. The Model 24 is definitely worth the money. Solid 5 stars.

achiThe Tascam Model 24 lets you have more time to be creative and lay down more tracks. Simple to use controls yet advanced enough to act as a DAW interface. Everything an experienced audio engineer has become used to in a real recording studio console. Items such as 100 mm faders to multi-band EQ and on-board effects processing lets the operator set the appropriate controls to achieve great recording. I have used this mixer/recorder for almost 7 months and it has produced HD quality audio for my projects. So many features& ways to control audio to and from the console. I would highly recommend this to any newbee or experienced recording enthusiast. There is nothing quite like the analogue and digital hybrid design configuration. Powerful, robust and extremely simple to utilize.

Just turn everything on and start playing. Has saved me a ton of time by not having to swap plugs since my last board only had only 8 inputs.

Master tracks and normalize ability???

Product Review
Love Tascam. So, those in the know...???? Got a problem. One review states EQ and mild compression, don't show up on the individual tracks. My understanding is, when you bounce tracks to the stereo master tracks, any EQ and compression, and effects....will follow to the stereo final tracks. I don't know if final stereo tracks can be normalized, or this would be a function of DAW....or an outboard CD writer like Tascam 901mkII. I am not yet sure 901mkII will normalize....or it is just a copier. Supposedly, it will master, so, I hope it will normalize. I am about ready to pull the trigger on this and the 901mkII. I hate working computer screens. I am starting to look like a 1959 Austin Healy BugEyed Sprite.

One definition for power is “potential energy.” This console has a magnificent potential to make electrons flow in various directions for such an affordable box.
I would love to detail the controls for readers, but I feel confident that if you are researching this particular product, then you already know the controls and I will not insult your skill level. However, I would say, “Spend the little extra and get the 100 mm faders!” The sensitivity is far, far greater than 60 mm.
The manual for the 24 is simple and operation of the board is intuitive. I was an electronics technician for years, so I am one of those geeks who like to read manuals! Who the heck wants to read the news?
My first connections were simple. I connected up my Alesis Nitro drum kit, which I purchased along with the Tascam, to the board and plugged in a pair of shelf monitors. A few minutes were spent playing the drums through the board while adjusting the overall volume levels of each component of the kit, as monitored through the speakers, until I was happy with the mix.
Next, the 24 was paired with my phone via Bluetooth: Easy, peazy! I play at church and we get the weekly song index through the Services APP. Within minutes of unwrapping the 24, I was rehearsing along with the list of mp3s playing from my phone.
My wife plays keys at church, so, next, she was connected up. What a great way to get familiar with a new song! After some familiarity by playing with a new song, we dropped the mp3 and added the 24’s internal click track as we do play alongside a metronome live in service.
So, after two rehearsals, we felt like professionals and pressed on to take a turn at recording. The wife is a soprano with a voice degree and all that yadda, yadda, yadda, experience, and her range can be tough to capture. We played around with slight compression, and other effects, while capturing her voice in dynamic ranges and WOW! The 24 works well. The compression gave her voice that full and even sound that it should.
Other features of the board are easy to operate, ie., punch in, loading tracks, etc. We really look forward to expanding the number of ways to use this console, one of which, is to track a few original songs and experiment with creativity on our awesome new Tascam 24.

I bought this product just over a year ago. When it arrived I spent about 2 hours with it make sure everything worked and stored it in it's factory packaging. Today, I updated the firmware and spent 4 hours on it going though the manual and learning. In that 4 hour time the Model 24 developed a really nasty hum in channel 4. The product has less than 8 hours of production time on it. Simply defective in components or workmanship.

I've always been a fan of Tascam gear!
I've owned several of their multitrack recorders through the years.
They all been reliable and easy to use. I've had my Tascam Model 24 only a few months. I'm just now getting into using it. It took a total of 10 minutes to learn to format the card, and do basic multitrack recording.
The sound is pristine!
As an "Old Guy," I love the retro look, and ease of use.
My Tascam Model 24 will be the center piece of my home studio. Sometime soon, I will be buying either a Tascam Model 16 or a Tascam Model 12 to use when traveling. Thanks Tascam, and a big thanks to my incredible friends at American Musical Supply!

Set up can be tricky if you're inexperienced in DAW with I/O set up. It's a dream to use. You can play live bands and record straight into your DAW for a crispy sound. Also you can add what lever plugins you have into the mix also while playing live. What a great system. You won't regret it. The first unit I received was defective, could of happened to anybody but it happened to me. Support team had a label for me to print and was shipped the next day. Overnighted to my house and then new one was at my doorstep the next day.

Call me a geek, but I just love all of the knobs, sliders, plugs, push buttons and lights! This thing is the coolest looking board out there! Whats more is that it functions like the pro equipment in the good ole days with all of the modern features that any tech geek of today would enjoy! The multi track recording features are awesome as is the interface with your computer! Tascam has outdone themselves with this fantastic model 24. The simulated wood grain edges are beautiful and give It that retro feel. Ive had mine about 3 weeks now and I get excited every time I go into my home studio and fire this gorgeous board up! You will love what the Tascam 24 will do for your sound and recordings! I think the multitrack recording features are my favorite along with the modern tech, such as the digital display, built in USB interface and the 4 band master EQ, oh and the inputs! Lots of inputs! There is really nothing I don't like about it and it has blown all of my expectations out of the water! The WOW factor is everywhere on this thing! Great job Tascam and a thank you to AMS for the great deal, fast shipping and wonderful service!

Product Review
I needed a board for mixing and recording live gigs - without a sound guy. (I own an Allen Heath SQ5 digital mixer, a Soundcraft GB mixer, etc - but often they are too complex to mix and play at same time without a sound person). So I ordered in a demo Model 24 from American Musical just two days before a gig at a cool small venue in Vermont where we had Jackson Browne's really tasteful guitarist sitting in, so I wanted to record it track-by-track. The build quality feels excellent and gotta love the retro analog style mixer appearance. In short, it worked perfectly. The mic pre's are extremely clean. The EQ and FX is fine/useable (they do NOT print to recording). We left the compressors on very low as they do print to tape. In between sets I started a new "song" on the SD card for safety, but it ran for 1:14 without a glitch, 14 tracks simultaneous recording at 24/48 during the first set. The live sound in that venue was as good as I've heard it using the Model 24. And after the gig, I imported the tracks from SD card onto my Mac and into Logic, and listened both through Focal Twin Be monitors and Sennheiser SD600 headphones and the sound quality is excellent. The only shortcoming for live is only 2 monitor mixes, which may be fine for smaller bands/venues (the application this was clearly designed for.) If your application is track-by-track recording and overdubbing, I cannot speak to that application. But if you need an "analog style" mixer for mixing a small band and doing live all-at-once track-by-track recording, at a very good price for the quality you are getting, I HIGHLY recommend this Model 24. You will not be disappointed.

I Love the TASCAM 24

Product Review
I’ve gone “live-on-location” with high quality results, offering clients more recording solutions.
The TASCAM 24 is remarkable. It’s easy to use, records well and is a very stable device. There’s no need to carry a computer, monitor or audio interface. The built-in compression on each channel eliminates the need to carry my 6-space rack of compressors. To record, just press the rec buttons you want and you’re on.
The Bluetooth channel is killer. My home studio is upstairs. I mixed a song and emailed the file to my phone. I recorded the file on the Bluetooth channel while simultaneously recording the Steinway in my downstairs living room. Unbelievable! The implications are vast when considering the ways this gear can be used. In six weeks, I’ve recorded a concert band, a school play and a Rock band in a night club venue.
“It’s like having an old analog console but your tape is a 64 gig SD card.” Slide the card into your computer and and you’re full-speed ahead.
I love it.

I started recording analog (tape) back in 1980. Like everyone else, I migrated to digital in the early 2000's. I always missed the warm analog sound even though my ears (and everyone else's) have learned to accept the digital sound. This mixer's a little breath of fresh air. I am currently using it to record band rehearsals (to the SD card) and bringing it over to LogicPro to mix it. That works great and does seem to have a little more warmth than straight in digital recording. However, I would love to have the ability to mix on the Model 24 without having to use the DAW. I can't seem to find a way to do that. I'd love to be able to stay on the mixer and mix what I record to the SD card.
