I had been for years using a us800 which for my needs, but felt cramped and like I was out growing it. I got this on a whim despite already having recorded drums, bas and guitars for a demo. When it arrived and I used it for the first time it was like night and day just because of the pre amp upgrade. I decided to redo everything. The extra inputs and outputs was what I most looked forward too, but the whole package has given my recordings a more confident full sound.

I have been using American Musical Supply for a few years now and I have been extremely happy with their service, timely orders, and the quality in which i receive my items.

I bought this as an upgrade to a previous Tascam interface. Have 16 analog inputs and the 10 analog outputs are very nice. The pres are very quiet and have a lot of headroom. The drivers work well with my Win10 PC in both ProTools and Mixbus. The knobs are a little small but have good resistance in the pots. You can't go wrong with unit. Highly recommended.

Ive had it for a week. It meets all MTRs and more! The fact that it sounds good, works great with any DAW, and has its own fx for this 16 channel interface sets it apart from many interfaces that are even twice its price.

I've had a few sessions recording drums with this interface and it works fantastic. Great sound. No hum. easy to use. I highly recommend picking this up if you're looking for something capable of recording drums. It also records guitar, bass, and vocals easily.

Now, keep in mind I am not comparing this to RME, MOTU and UA products, but this interface has been quite solid for very little $.
I did have several hiccups where it was dropping sync, thus one star less. Updating firmware and drivers fixed this but it was phantom issue that crept up. Also had a weird glitching playback while tracking overdubs once, a reboot of the machine fixed that, but it was strange.
Besides these 2 instances of droppage, I haven't had any issue but solid performance since I bought this about a year ago.
It has 8 preamp, that are clean and capture well. They're not amazing, but clean and nothing fancy.
I am augmenting this with 8 PreSonus XMAX preamps (for a total of 16 inputs combined) and the PreSonus preamps capture a bit more detail and have a touch more "sparkle".
I am recording band rehearsals with this mainly and we have mid to low grade drum mics and are actually capturing a very good sound, sounds well enough to start tracking a full LP that is about to be completed soon.
I am doing overdubs at home with a AXE I/O interface and unless we're talking vocals and bass, where the AXE I/O has some transformer JFET goodies you can dial in the sound to capture more definition, I can't say the Tascam interface is inferior in any way.
Very good purchase and just what you need if you want to record a full band. Pick an 8 input mic preamp (used or new, I got a PreSonus FP10 for about $60 used!) and some 1/4 patch cables and you have yourself a 16 channel rig to record a full band.

This thing gets the job done plain and simple. If you are new to recording or have a little experience I would recommend this unit any day. Fits right into your rack system or perfect for under your laptop. Definitely recommend this!

I know we all think we know what’s happening with hardware and such, do yourself a favor and real all docs and manuals. This interface works so well and its so easy but if you read the stuff you get so much more out of it. This is a excellent device i totally recommend this interface and Ive had plenty of them take my word! And this unit works great in windows but need Ram and in IPad it works perfect.

it has a great many options that can be utilized in different ways. I was a bit confused because I had a Tascam 125M before. very simple. I am glad that I got this one and am quite happy with it. Tech support was good about assisting me, and when I discovered some things about using this with Sonar Platinum, I shared what I was learning with with American Musical to assist others

When I took it out of the package I grabbed the unit and the wires and plugged it in. As usual the instructions stayed in the box wrapped. They're still there. With in moments, I had it up and running.
It sounds great works well and I love the fact that it has both mic pre's and line ins. I have an old analog mackie 24x8 that I'm able to hook up to it. It allows me to create multiple two track mixes at one time. It is most helpful when you're doing orchestral and choir recordings. It also helps that it's portable. All, in all great for any studio.

Very simple to set up, and the most impressive thing is that it operates as a digital mixer independent of any other software/hardware! So I'm able to do shows without taking a separate mixer to set up. Less wires, less time, less HASSLE! I haven't used it with my recording software yet, but the fact that it doubles as a digital mixer when I'm not recording just blew me away. Having 8 outs is what makes it such a viable option for live Applications. I can run all of my house speakers (powered) and monitors from my laptop. It Also had a link option for running stereo operations. You can group two channels together and adjust them at the same time, so all I did was plug my keyboard into channels 9-10, panned one to the left,and the other to the right. Sounds amazing and clean with hardly any humming or noise. A lot of bang for the buck!

Overall, it's a good interface. It has a few kinks, like not wanting to work in some internet browsers and media players. It does well if you don't try to use it for more than one application at a time, but such is often the case with ASIO devices.
