this guitar comes out of the box a little shy but as time passes on it gets better because the wood opens up, nothing to say about the es2 fantastic, the koa wood will help stand out in a mix with other accustic guitars because it resonates different, the koa wood is also good for those who live in a hotter or colder climate such as myself, it takes temperature changes better than other acustic guitars that I own

I just got my Taylor a couple weeks ago but the Koa wood is beautiful, the neck is perfect, smooth and also gorgeously constructed. The Taylor expression system is one of a kind and once it’s dialed in rivals anything on the market. I have never played a better guitar and hope to buy another one soon. American music supply’s staff are very knowledgeable and helpful when making a purchase or following up with questions or concerns. All around a great buying experience and I look forward to many more!

I have played guitar for more than 50 years and will be first in line to sing the praises of Taylor guitars. An amazing instrument out of the box ( I prefer a lower action, so, I did adjust the neck a bit.) I own several fine guitars, among them a 70's era Guild F50. Up until I got the Taylor, the Guild was my be all, end all 6 string acoustic. No more. The 224ce Koa model sounds as if it has been played and seasoned for years. Amazing, so very glad I pulled the trigger and bought it.

I put off getting this,though wanting it for a while...I don't always have as much time to play as I'd like so I had a hard time justifying the purchase.. AMS made it an easier decision with the payments options.. The option to spread the payments out with no interest allowed me to pull the trigger on the purchase..I'm now so glad I did... While this guitar isn't "cheap" it plays better than it's price...At the price it is I feel it's a bargain.. The Koa has such a full warm sound and excells at strumming or picking.. Not all guitars do both as well.. Amazing action and clarity.. Def recommend to anyone considering this guitar.

I am beyond impressed, this is my first Koa guitar and all I can say is wow ?? Taylor knocked this one out of the park. The warm tone makes you want to keep playing whether you strum or finger pick, you will be amazed. In over 25 years of playing guitar, I have had martins , Gibsons, Taylors etc… This guitar has a haunting resonation like no other guitar I’ve owned or played, it plays just as good as it looks. This beautiful Taylor Koa Deluxe Grand Auditorium guitar has been on my bucket list for a while now. After my extensive research and seeing all the great reviews, I decided to purchase it from AMS, as I always do with all my instruments. I was extremely pleased with this wonderful sounding and beautiful guitar. Taylor does it right! Just as everyone says, it sounded awesome right out of the box. It's very easy to play. Delivery was right on time. Of course, you can't beat their payment plans. It was great that it came in a hard shell case. There is nothing more to say than, You have to get this guitar! You won't be disappointed at all.

Bought this for my son for his bday. We both played a 224 in the past and decided it was time to pull the trigger. The guitar is beautiful to look at, and with the finish and edge burst shading, it makes it really stand out in his collection. It's truly inspiring to play and hard to put down. Have had it for two weeks and it has not disappointed, it plays very nice and we both love it! Taylor really nailed it with the expression system electronics, sounds natural and open. I have numerous guitars and have friends who own a taylor. I did not...until now. Part of it was cost but when I found this guitar at such a great price I thought it was worth a try to see what all the excitement was about...and boy am I glad I did. It has become easily my first choice to play. It has an amazing sound and the shape makes it easily accessible for my reach. Thing plays like a dream and sounds great the koa has a nice even well rounded and robust sound that's not to bright and not overly bassy yet comes out strong and smooth. One that annoys me though the ebony neck has what look like imperfections. I was going to even order a replacement it bothered me so much. I called AMS and the guy told me that Taylor had changed something about their necks and they now have what look like imperfections, its like the wood soaked up the stain and in certain small (less then a dime size) spots occur where the wood grain shows through. One spot almost looks like a knot on the fret board. Personally for the price I feel this should not be here.

The koa wood gives this guitar a mellow, rich sound. Often times when recording, I’ve had to compress guitar to remove the roominess but with this Taylor the sound is rich and smooth, no need for compression... by far the best recording guitar I’ve ever purchased.

Haven’t found anything that I DON’T like about this guitar! A couple of the reviews I read before purchasing questioned how well the “mid-tones” came through, but I can’t emphasize enough that my wife and I (who each bought one of these) couldn’t be happier with the sound. Full, rich tones.....,both acoustically and through PA. Love the rustic, simple, straight forward look as well. The added bonus of being able to buy these on payment terms through AMS has made the deal even sweeter. No regrets whatsoever! Couldn’t be happier with the twin Taylor 224 Koa’s, or the customer service that we’ve received. Now....looking at what to buy next.....????

My husband is left handed so originally I had ordered him the left handed version of this guitar. A friend of mine told me he does not play left handed. I called asking if I could exchange it but it had already shipped, but the gentleman I spoke with on the phone was very kind and had the guitar re-routed so I wouldn’t even have to bother with the return at all. Everything went so smoothly and my Husband got his guitar for his birthday, and let me say the pictures online do not do it justice! Totally impressed with the quality of this entry level Taylor. I have been playing Takamine guitars exclusively since 1990 on stage and I was in need of a new stage guitar. I figured I would try the Taylor since AMS has a 45 day money back guarantee. When the guitar first arrived I couldn't believe how stunning it looked. This Taylor guitar played better than it looked. Taylor set the action and intonation to perfection from the factory. My 224ce plays like a dream and stays perfectly in tune with heavy playing. There is one hint that everybody needs to know about the ES-2 pickup system in the Taylor guitars. There is a white switch on the preamp inside the body that allows you to choose your pickup settings. When I first played it through my JBL Eon One system I had to tweak it quite a bit to acheive the sound I wanted. I set the guitar and the JBL EQ to flat settings and changed the white switch and angels sang through my speaker. I was sold on this Taylor and it will be awhile before I am sold another Takamine. I feel like I’ve finally found my soulmate, in the realm of guitars! I do love this guitar! Beautiful, elegant, sexy and true, balanced and rich, responsive, and ooooh, I could go on and on...! It really is all these things, and more. Great attention to detail, one would expect from Taylor! Not a flaw anywhere! This guitar stays in tune, amazingly enough, as it normally stays on its guitar stand next to a sliding glass door that leads out to our front deck, where I play it for 4 and 5 hours most nights. We live in Destin, Florida, where the sun is hot, and the nights are very humid. I was concerned about taking it from the air conditioning out into extreme humidity for hours at a time, but that’s where I like to practice and write my music. So I figured it would have to be tough enough to put up with my lifestyle. It came with .012 gauge strings on it, which I distain! So I changed the strings to my favs, GHS Bright Bronze.010 gauge. I had already planned to adjust the neck, because I’m very picky about my action. Because it was getting used to its new environment, I had to adjust it quite a few times as it was settling. I like my action very low, so the slightest chances are noticeable and critical. I bought a hygrometer to measure humidity, and a humidity control kit, to stay on top of the situation. I knew I was asking a lot from this guitar. But now that it has settled, oooh, man! It plays like butter! I’ve played guitar for 55 years and my recording studio business turned 40 last September. I’ve owned and played many fine high end guitars over the years, and none play better than this jewel! I want to pick it up every time I walk by it, it looks so pretty just sitting there waiting for me! It doesn’t project all that loudly, acoustically, but it’s very balanced, tonally. And the ES-2 pickup system is very sensitive! Great for tapping and playing with a lot of dynamics, from ultra quiet and intimate, to full out strumming. These pickups bring out every harmonic and nuance according to my touch, as I’m playing. I play a lot of jazz and lead, and also do a lot of fingerpicking, and everything in between. This guitar, the Taylor 224ce Koa Deluxe represents everything, across the board, faithfully, with crystal clear balanced tone throughout all frequency ranges. The lows, the highs and the mids are all beautiful and woody! I’m beyond happy with this guitar! It’s deep, in so many beautiful ways! Thanks again, AMS! You’ve got me for life! I love my new sweetheart!

This is the second of 2 I reieved. The first one had imperfections in gloss top as if it was not buffed out properly or the grain was not filled properly. (I make electric guitars) and have finnished many. The secind guitar has visible gaps under the fret wire tangs. The taolor rep said thats because there is no binding. Come on Taylor.. ever heard of pluging/filling fhe gaps with thin strips of wood or epoxy?..for the price of this guitar 1599.00 Im very dissapointed. I still haven't decided weather or not im going to keep it or send it back. It does play and sound very good...4 stars. Finnish and attention to detail. 2 stars. Peace

Beautiful, daring, and illicit emotion of the soul. The Koa is nothing short of sexy. The neck is easy to maneuver and the guitar came right out of the box ready to play, with a quick tune up. I'd love to see a clear pickguard instead of the black one that comes on it. The case is a beautiful brown leather deluxe case with brilliant crushed lining, and my favorite DEEP compartment for strap, tuner and other things.
Overall, when I first took it out I was a little underwhelmed with the tonal quality. However, once it acclimated the guitar warmed up and sang with that amazing Koa tone. Easy playability and fast delivery. I love this guitar!

This package is the Taylor complete set. It comes with the Baby for day to day strumming. You can take it all around and have a decent playing small form guitar. I had been looking at this guitar for quite some time now. I have a older model Taylor 214e that I had received as a high school graduation gift and it was starting to get tired. As a worship leader an acoustic guitar is my main instrument and I didn’t want to just “settle” for a decent guitar. If it wasn’t for American Musical Supply’s payment plan i would not have been able to get this beautiful looking, playing and sounding guitar. AMS came through, AGAIN! This is not my first purchase, and definitely won’t be my last. Their more than flexible payment options, and extended warranties make them the retailer to beat, for music related gear.
Now for the guitar... where do I start? The fit and finish is flawless, and the tone of this guitar is huge. The Koa word has warm overtones, that should only increase over time.
The satin finished neck is smooth, and the action is similar to electric guitars. It’s nice to play an acoustic that you don’t have to fight with. Think it, play it, hear it. It’s that simple.
The case is as beautiful as the guitar (for a case anyway), and is befitting of a guitar of this quality. It’s a crime to charge over a grand guitar, and not include a case to protect it.
The built in electronics make this guitar at home on the couch, in the jam room, or on the stage. For this price point, you really can’t beat the value for what you get.

I have no regrets in purchasing this Taylor 224ce Koa Deluxe Grand Auditorium guitar. It doesn't only looks exceptional.The Koa wood is just beautiful. The clarity of the sound weather you have it amplified or not, is incredibly clean and clear. Also the action makes it easy to play.Honestly, I've always wanted to own a Taylor Guitar. But just couldn't afford it. After playing a few Taylor guitars at my local guitar center. My decision made. I absolutely love this guitar. Here are the main reasons:
- The craftsmanship is flawless. Every joint is perfect and the rounded edge border is just so, so nice.
- The sounds that comes out of this thing is full, rich, and crystal clear.
- This instrument is very easy to play and the ebony fret board is a joy.
- I would argue that the value of this guitar is unbeatable.
I am one happy dude. I Love this guitar. Seeing a guitar of this quality at 1599$ really makes we want to buy a 900 Series Taylor for 5000$ just to experience the upper-level of a quality standard that already seems near perfection.

Let me start by saying that I have had somewhere around 6 or 7 guitars in the past 9 years. This guitar by far is the best guitar I have ever had. This guitar is absolutley beautiful from the minute you open it to when you start playing. The koa wood is beautiful and in the sunlight looks even more amazing. Now the sound of this guitar is a beautiful bright sound. The action on this guitar is amazing straight out of the box as well. The blend between the mid, lows and highs is amazing. I have had it now for 3 weeks and I literally cant stop playing it. I have zero complaints and AMS makes this guitar easy to afford which I am grateful for cause not everyone has $1600.00 to shell out. Aside from that one day shipping for free?!?! Their customer service was amazing as well helping me set up for a perfect delivery. Big thank you to AMS for helping me get my guitar for the next 10+ years!

I received my Taylor 224ce K , The Moment I opened the box I was amazed at the beautiful look and feel of this guitar. The craftsmanship that was put into this instrument is amazing! As I took the guitar out and tuned it, the tone and the ease to play this guitar was astonishing. No need to take it to a guitar store or luthier to have the action set, like you get when you buy most guitars from either stores or online. It is playable right out of the box, you will not be disappointed if you choose this Guitar!

First off, the beauty of this guitar is hands down awesome. The Koa wood is superb. The action on this guitar is perfect for me. Low enough but not too low. The lows are full and the highs are crips.. it sounds really great for fingering too..that’s what she said.

I've been playing guitar for 40 years. I'm a recording artist and music coach to other professionals. My primary instrument has been a 34 year-old Yaeri-Alvarez that I bought new. I've recorded a dozen albums with it and performed thousands of shows on it. Some years ago, I picked up a Breedlove as a back-up (thru AMS!). Since then, I've looked at Taylor for an in-between instrument...the tone quality and richness for finger-picking that the Yaeri has and the flexibility for riffing that the Breedlove has.
I've played many Taylor guitars over the years. While they've always been great instruments, they didn't always impress me. This Taylor 224 Koa, however, is mind bogglingly rich and plays like a dream. I was admiring the overtones it gives while playing a gig the other night, and actually forgot which verse I was singing, lol! While I expect to put my favorite strings on a new guitar and get a setup, this one didn't require a set-up after switching over to my silk-bronze strings. I imagine I lucked out. Most instruments will need a setup for the feel you're looking for. The action is right where I like it and I now have the perfect hybrid of my other performance instruments.
I'm not someone who acquires numerous instruments. Including a specialty electric, a nylon string AE, and a baritone AE, this guitar makes a total of seven guitars I own. It has now become my number one guitar for situations in which I can't bring three instruments (short sets or for non-gig travel). It's my go-to for daily practicing and I look forward to bringing it into the studio.
For a beautiful sound, great action for most styles, and quality plug and play, this is an outstanding instrument, especially at this price.
Highly recommended.

The taylor 224cedk is great ! it's warm tone wise,and has a great feel,and easy to play ! I have a martin acustic ,but prefer the taylor over the martin ! I'd recommend this guitar to anyone ! The workmanship is PERFECT ! A beautiful guitar ! The tone is so fantasic ,I can't put the guitar down !

This is hands down the best overall instrument purchase I have made to date. I initially ordered a different guitar and was actually very pleased with it, just didn't quite fill that void that was left after I sold a bunch of equipment. I contacted AMS and I talked to a great salesperson and within 3 days I had the Taylor 224ce Koa Deluxe and my front door, and still had the original guitar I purchased, they sent the new one quicker than I could send the original back. About the Taylor 224ce Koa DLX, I really dont have that great of a vocabulary to express how I really feel about this acoustic guitar. The looks are obviously incredible, the craftsmanship is ridiculously meticulous, the smell of Koa is aromatic and intoxicating, very pleasing and I hope it doesn't subside anytime soon. The tone is fantastic, very smooth voicing, each string rings out with clarity in open chords, it shares some tonal characteristics with Mahagany but much more punch and depth. So Taylors layered back and sides are made up of inner layer of Sapale with a solid Poplar core in the middle and outside layer of Koa, so were not talking about the HPL thats used on lower end Martins, or "plywood". Its one of the many reasons Martin has nothing even close to compare to Taylor in this price range, you need to understand no acoustic guitar manufacturer has what Taylor has to offer on this range. You get what you pay for, if you want a quality made insrtument thats going to last you a life time, and only get better with age, then I suggest you pony up and get a Taylor. I dont want anyone to think I'm a Martin hater, that would be insane, I'm just more of a Taylor guy. The Taylor electronics are very unique, I didn't think it could possibly get any better, then I plugged it up, I wish there was a better word than "dynamic", but thats all I got, it has 3 pickups, one located under the fretboard by the sound hole, one "behind" the bridge and a mic/ sensor mounted under the top. Im very particular about my stuff and I'm trying hard to find something negative but I can't, I'm looking it over with a magnifying glass, all class and quality. Taylor and AMS fan for life. One more thing, watch some videos about Bob Taylor explaining the situation with tonewoods that are running out, like Ebony, he doesnt just care about providing you with an awesome instrument, the guy also actually cares about the planets resources.

After a long look at several A/E guitars as well as owning a couple, none of them compare to the quality of workmanship, feel and sound of this instrument. Taylor guitars has in my opinion raised the bar in a mid to high level players guitar. As an artist and constant learner I wanted to be able to take an instrument out to small venues and not only show off how gorgeous this Taylor is, but have people enjoy the clarity and rich tones that resonate through the room. Lastly I was always hesitant about ordering a guitar online and having it shipped to my home,but AMS reps guaranteed that I would be satisfied its arrival to my home was within 24hrs of my order!! Thank you for taking a few minutes to read my thoughts but truly I could not be more pleased!

I can't imagine there is a better $1500 guitar available than the 224ce Koa Deluxe by Taylor. The build quality, playability and unique tone of the Koa Wood make this guitar a winner. I truly believe this guitar would sell just as well at $1k more. The 224 Koa is absolutely beautiful - the fretwork is excellent and all the bits and pieces are top quality. The most impressive part about this guitar is when it is plugged in. This is where so many Acoustic Electrics drop the ball in the $1500 category. Not this guitar. Taylor spec'd it just right with the ES2 system. There are not many downsides with this guitar. Although it is not solid wood.. it is all Koa. The playability is typical of Taylor without the high price tag. I am not sure how Taylor did it .. .but they did!

I sat on pulling the trigger on this purchase for about a month and a half. When AMS offered their 18 month financing I couldn't resist. Man, I am so happy that I did! This guitar is absolutely gorgeous! The wood grain and the finish far exceeded my expectations. It's feel and playability rival that of my Taylor 614 that I picked up 20 years ago. This guitar sounds amazing. The Koa top brings a richness and warmth to this guitars voice. I highly recommend picking one up. Hell, pick up two. I know my 224ce KOA Deluxe will be with me for the rest of my life. Thanks so much AMS.

Right out of the box this thing sounded beautiful. The look, the smell, it all was what a Taylor should be. The only thing I did was put some warmer strings on it. Once I did that, it make the sound smoother and richer then before. I can’t say enough good things about this guitar! I would not only recommend it, I would put it against other high end guitar brands hands down. Super happy with this purchase.
