Product Rating Product Review Maybe there's an inconsistency, not sure; but MAYBE one reason for the low price tag on this Washburn (yes a reputable company) is the inlays between frets. All of them are off center on the neck of the one I got. Another reason maybe are the strings that come with it. (I think they're med.) The strings sounded fine, nice & bright for awhile. Then, I don't know, maybe from keeping it stored on a stand so I could just reach over and pick it up to use it; whatever but I reached over to pick it up after playing every day since I got it the strings were just completely dead. It sounded awful. Lifeless. Fortunately I ordered strings too and they were standing by. My banjo has been revived. Personally I think you can't go wrong with this over a pricier one but I'm not a banjo expert. Maybe more expensive ones come with precision centered ivory inlays from prehistoric mammals. Maybe they come with strings hand-picked from only the finest to be found on the planet? I DON'T KNOW.
