This compressor is one of my go to units for bass
And vocals. Crank it up and see how musical it still sounds. I am glad I made the investment in this unit. I will purchase a 2nd unit so that I can use it on stereo

I have never used the unit this is based on but it does what it sets out to do… the tone color is pleasing and provides an opportunity to mold your work into a commercial sounding product, YES I would recommend this product (not as a comparable product to its inspiration but as a very effective tool useful for making your own unique work shine)!

I’ve been having my eye on this compressor for a while and finally made the jump after thorough research. This sounds so good. Vocals are baked, warm and ready to go. The controls are simple. Knobs feels good! A huge difference from the DBX 266 compressor I had for my vocals. The sonic quality cuts through the mix. Get one! You won’t be disappointed!

Before the WA-2A, I compressed in the box, paired with other plugins, which caused me use a lot of CPU. The WA-2A is warm and smooth, takes a load off the CPU, and is very fun to use. It adds character to all vocals I record. Classic sound, great price.

Warm Audio has done it again, I have been mixing production for over 7 years and I’ve seen a lot of outboard gear. This unit is superior and it does way more than you would expect for the price? It’s a win win for excellent sound. Pair it with a WA76 and it’s that much more of a journey with sound.

The Warm Audio WA2a is a slower warm tube compressors that brings that professional warm full sound to anything you run through it especially vocals I use it along with my WA76 and my Warm Audio WA73 and my microphone the WA87.. after recording vocals I use it in my mixing chain and my music sounds absolutely great. As you can see I love Warm Audio products and I recommend it to anyone who wants to take there music to the next level.

This is not an LA2A, but it stands on its own two feet. To be honest I think this sounds better and a Teletonix and it will sound amazing no matter what you throw at it, vocals, bass, guitar, etc. The price on this is ridiculous for the quality you get. I'm looking at buying at least 1 more.

At first me and this compressor couldn’t seem to meet in the middle. Took me a few weeks of playing around trying to get the sound I wanted. Combined with Warm tone beast and the Neumann tlm102(both were purchased from American musical supply)I was finally able to get the silky smooth compression I was searching for. I don’t know if the conpresssor is necessary or not , but the changes it adds to mixed are phenomenal. It makes recording so much easier if u tune it just right. I purchased it mainly for easing the strain on my mic and pre amp and it’s doing a fine job. It was trial and error for me so if u know how to work a compressor I guarantee you will love the sound and Sonics this piece of equipment can create

I've been recording myself at home for years just running my microphone through my Apollo Twin interface directly into my computer. Literally the moment I plugged in my WA-2A my sound went from home studio to a MILLION DOLLAR recording studio. The smoothness and tone it brings to the vocals is absolutely incredible. If I could recommend just 1 piece of analog gear for a home studio it would be the WA-2A

Completely took my production quality to the industry level it needed to be. I also paired it with the wa73 mic-pre. Sound quality is unbelievable. I also use these for my DJ rig as well (mixtapes, demos, etc). Thank you warm audio. I’ve already told my gear heads in the industry about these products because I stand by them.

I use the WA-2A in my recording chain ( paired with a WA73-EQ ) and I have rarely been as satisfied with how a piece of gear performs and the build quality vs. price. After finding that I was using the UAD Teletronix Legacy plugin as my first choice optical compressor I wanted to try a quality hardware unit. The WA-2A is a great deal !! Excellent !

It puts out such clean, warm results and the model of the compressor makes it so much easier to use and understand. I always start my sessions recording with analog gear and I have to say using this compressor along with my new Manley microphone sounds like angels are singing the new Justin Bieber song in your ear.

For the price, 5 stars. It's worth the 1000 bucks. Looks beautiful on my rack. Paid 900 for TLA-50, (which I prefer over the WA2A) but this comes pretty close in terms of warmth and sonic quality. Get the TLA-50 instead of this would be my honest advice. Summit Audio just makes better gear, IMHO. Great Design M201 is a clean sounding compressor and works great! Better quality than warm audio as well. I would totally buy a used TLA-100 over the warm audio wa2a and the wa76. However, I love their preamps, great stuff, no joke. I have the tone beast and the wa73-eq. LOVE THEM. Compressor? They need to up their game to brands like Grace Design, Summit Audio, Universal Audio. It's not quite there yet. For this reason, I would try to buy those brands used for the same price as a new Warm Audio compressor, overall B+ to A-.

I use it predominently on bass, after my 1176. As with all Warm Audio compressors, I find it has a mid-frequency "bump". I had a WA76 and found the same "coloration". Although I got rid of my WA76 because of this, it isn't as pronounced on the WA2A, and I actually like it on bass! I have used it on acoustic guitars with great results, as well. Every bit as good as my UAD and Waves plug-in versions.

This is something I was a little hesitant to purchase. I acquired what I thought was most necessary first, and then got the WA2A. It was my 5th comp in my rack after distressors and 76’s. This WA2A sounds great and should be your FIRST compressor when building a studio rack. Because it is easy to use, and the sound that goes through this unit becomes smooth, level and even squashed and nicely saturated when pushed. Applying the WA2A on vocals is better than any plugin, by far! The unit is built great and Warm audio service is awesome. Looking back, I now know this could have served as my first compressor. But now I know it holds its own in comparison to units costing much more. I see four of these in my future. When you experience the WA2A it’s apparent, for the price it’s a game changer.

I have been reading the reviews and comments on several websites about the WA2A Compressor, I have the WA76 but wanted a smoother, more transparent compressor for vocals. THIS IS IT! AND AT A GREAT PRICE! This added a professional touch to my recordings. Thanks AMS for many years of service to me and all of us out here trying to make it in the music world.
