This guitar could easily be picked over a guitar double its price point. The build quality and sound is exceptional! The only drawback for me is that the DI / electronics are a bit noisy compared to others (if studio recording, wouldn't be an issue live) but the sound is pretty great other than that.

Very Nice Guitar For What It Is

Product Review
First off, I am a log-time and VERY picky guitar player. I play mostly Taylor Acoustics and even some Boutique Brands. Since this guitar is made in Japan, I wanted to give it a try.
Out of the box, the action on the guitar was perfect. This guitar has nothing to hide. Sounds great, looks great, and plays great. I would compare it to guitars approaching twice its price in the higher priced brands.
It's a rather no-frills, "gigging musician's" guitar. It does that perfectly, and is a tremendous value at the price.

Have owned/played Martin D18, D28, D35, and M36, and high-end Alvarez Yiari Dreadnaughts, and none IMO come close to the Yamaha A5R in workmanship and sound "out-of-the-box" at twice+ the price! What a joy to look at, hear, and play! Definitely deserves a higher grade(like the M36) case, although the included Yamaha case is adequate.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t even thought about picking up my Taylor or Martin guitars since getting this. Yamaha makes a fantastic guitar! I have over 20 vintage Yamahas, so I have always been a fan. But this guitar is exceptional for its build quality, sound, playability, and will rival any guitar that costs thousands more. If you see one available, get it!

Product Review
This guitar is one of the best I have ever played. No setup needed right out of the box. Action was low, sound is incredible and workmanship is superb. If you want a guitar that ranks right up there with the best of them this is it. Sound is even across the strings lows are low highs are high and mids are mids none of which over power the other. Extremely comfortable to play and wood choices are beautiful Case is great too. Definitely worth the money plus. Japanese workmanship is wonderful. They pay attention to the small details that means a lot.

Product Review
I wanted a Japanese made guitar because of their workmanship standards .This is a home run for my type of usage. One of my projects is an acoustic duo that’s gigs often.I also have a Power Blues trio and a 3rd band in the works that would benefit from an acoustic set.Beautiful looking, precise build, versatile electronics.Love the unplugged sound and when I played it through a mediocre acoustisonic jr. that I’m not particularly crazy about. BOOM! I never heard an AE sound so sweet and dimensional .I couldn’t put it down.I still have to read up on the micing system, but it is awesome. The case is like a tank .With the case candy you even get a sound hole cover! Great guitar ,no regrets.
