I now own (3) of these basses in 4 & 5 string models. AMS has provided impeccable service throughout all of my purchases! What is not to love? This bass is the perfect workhorse. I wanted something versatile because I play everything from metal to funk to punk and more. This is the Swiss Army knife I needed. The only weird thing was that it showed up with a saddle that was upside down and backwards. I corrected it and I’m over the moon with it.

Well now that I recommended the base on the six string or the eight string recommendation I will recommend the eight string on this recommendation. This is badass Punk Rock City the greatest guitar I have ever held in my hand I highly recommend it for any aspiring punk rocker

Bass arrived 4/26/21, Intonation was spot on, and set up was textbook. Light tuning and she is ready to play. A lot of Bass for the price. Gig bag was functional. Seemed sturdy and protects as designed.My 1st Yamaha Bass. Attention to detail is evident throughout. I hit a home run on this purchase. AMS pay as you go is great. Buy one. You can’t go wrong.

This bass guitar is awesome! The P/J pickup configuration offers excellent tones. I would describe this instrument as having an aggressive character, but it can still provide a classic, deep tone; especially in passive mode. I got the flat black model as a minor blemish product. I actually can't find anything wrong with it. The fret ends are very well dressed and the neck feels great. I personally don't see any need to change the pickups. Also, the included strong-sided gig bag is a winner. This is a very solid bass guitar and I highly recommend it.

If one is looking for tone, go for the instrument that strings thru...... It's all about the tension and this bass has IT. The strings MUST come thru the wood in mi opinion and this bass delivers on all fronts. Not the top of the line, but NO one will know. Soooooo choice!!

Was looking for a 5 string with P pickups. I have several Yamaha acoustic guitars and thought I’d give this guy a shot. Great bass, very versatile. Active and passive with killer tone. Neck is just the right size, string spacing exactly how I like a 5 stringer to be. This bass is very well made and if you get one you will not be disappointed.

The quality control is outstanding. I'm always astounded when I can intonate a bass at the twelth and nineteenth frets exactly. In theory it should, but doesn't always.
I recorded with this bass a day after receiving it. The engineer asked if I could bring this bass whenever he calls me.
On a live gig that night people I didn't know, some musicians, wanted to know what the bass was I was using. It was a very "focused" and aggressive" sound.
The finish is perfect and very easily adjustable bridge and pickups. I raised them for a " hotter" signal. My next purchase may very well be the BB734A.
Don't let the price put you off. MD

This bass is amazing. It required minimum setup only because it was mailed from NY to Ohio. Great tone, incredible sustain, well built construction...I’ve gigged with it three times within 8 days...no complaints, a good counterpart to my Lakland 5501.

I received this bass as a Christmas gift from my wife. It is a tremendous instrument and has become my main bass. I have never had a bass with the PJ pickup configuration and have always wanted one. I play in a cover band and I can dial in the different tones I need to recreate the songs accurately. The brown-burst finish is beautiful. It came setup nicely and was ready to play out of the box. I highly recommend this instrument.

I've played professionally for years & have owned many basses,several high end & custom models & this bass doesn't disappoint. You can get numerous tonal colors by blending the p/j pups, nice thick tones to nice growl. It has nice sustain, very clear. The neck is quick, it's comfortable to play & sounds fantastic on recordings. Get it!

I don't like Fender basses but I always wanna a "traditional" sound bass for recordings and some gigs that require that "sound" THIS YAMAHA IS AWESOMEEEEEE!!!!!! You have that traditional sound with a touch of modern and the PBass pickup by itself on passive WOWWWWWWW!!!!!
