Product Review
I've been playing on the Motif series for about 4 yrs now. I had become accustomed to the cumbersome road worries of a traveling musician. But when I got the MOXF6, it seemed extremely light. I started to send it back.. because it was too light. It felt like a toy to me.
But when I plugged it up & began to play, that old familiar Motif sound & feeling began to caress my eardrums. I was in love all over again. And my travel was amazingly easier!
I LOVE MY BOARD!! MOTIF 4 LIFE!!!

If you're looking for a keyboard that can produce nearly spot-on sounds for cover songs, look no further!
However, it may take a while to learn how to find them.
This is definitely not a toy keyboard. You can do just about anything with it, but that also means it's pretty complex and will take some time to figure out how to do all those amazing things.
It's small and light enough to take anywhere, yet can take the place of just about any type of keyboard.
Its semi-weighted keys provide the perfect middle ground between piano and synth, so it can easily be your go-to for both.
It's pretty solid performer for both stage, and composition.

I'm totally amazed of what keyboards can do with my creativity, when it comes to song writing. Playing keyboards has opened a totally new world compared to song writing with a guitar.
If your into song writing, the Yamaha MOXF6 Synthesizer Workstation will blow you away. It's like going from 1st gear into 4th gear, opening up a whole new world of creation.
American Musical Supply, is my go to online music store. If I have questions, they are their staff is there to guide me in the right direction for my wants and needs.

I originally purchased the Yamaha MX61. I returned it and upgraded to the MOXF 61 for the onboard sequencing feature. The sounds on this keyboard are AMAZING! I love this keyboard. AMS has made buying SO easy. They discounted me since the original keyboard I ordered didn't have the all the features I wanted.
Every time I call someone friendly answers and genuinely helps me. Best experience ever!

For all the years I've been buying and using Yamaha products, I've never experienced such a poorly conceived (or supported) product as this one. Sound-wise the MOXF is noteworthy. However, as a songwriter trying to master the architecture/user interface to be able to produce music for TV and hopefully film, I was slack-jawed at just how poorly conceived this board is. And when I turned to Yamaha support for assistance, all I got was a couple of emails with suggested steps that didn't even BEGIN to answer all the questions I had, that the garbage manual couldn't answer. Sadly, I'm done with Yamaha products.

This keyboard has all the great sounds from the Motif XF. This keyboard is beautiful and the semi-weighted keys feel perfect. This is an awesome machine for the studio or the gigging musician. It is lightweight so it's built for the road. It's made out of plastic so I plan getting a case to protect it. The option to expand is the best thing about the moxf. I'm going to get the 1GB Flash Memory from AMS and have even more sounds. Kudos to American Musical I ordered this and it was on my doorstep the next day. I can't wait for my next gig to use my MOXF 6!

Love the MOXF series that I now own both the 8 and now the 6. Sounds are superb and with the Flash boards in both I can customize sounds and put them on a USB stick and copy to each keyboard. I love the semi weighted keys and bought it so I can play the Hammond sounds without bleeding on the weighted keys of the MOXF 8

Product Review
This Keyboard is great!!!
The sounds are superb, My has been a MOTIF ES and a Triton Studio I mostly use the Motif ES, NOt too long ago I bought the Korg Krome and I wasn't very impressed I thought it a wattered down version of the Triton and not a baby brother to the Kronos that has 9 engines but Really? I was not that impressed with the Piano so I sent back the Korg and purchased the MOFX6 after reading a review in keyboard magazine and watching a couple videos about the MOFX OMG!!! This keyboard is great, not a watered down version of the MOTIF but an exact copy of their flagship minus sampling plus it doubles as a MIDI interface and an Audio Interface , by far the easiest MO to navigate and 4 arpeggiators this keyboard is awesome just judging by the sounds alone the sounds are superb - the pianos in my opinion are way better then the Korg Krome. as in the Motif you can layer and/or split 4 different sounds and although it lacks the faders they made it easier to mute the parts
It's not a Tank like the Motif and the MOFX6 weighs 15 pounds my MOTIF ES weighs a ton, I don't like the power supply I would have liked a 3 prong normal power chord and a bigger screen but the keyboard action feels great the sounds are great all the controls are easy to navigate and considering all it offers for recording, sounds, yamaha did a great job plus you can expand the sounds with the optional 1 gig
THis would be a great keyboard at any level and awesome for a beginner specially if their just starting to build their Studio because this can be their audio/midi interface and they can use the effects from the keyboard.
Yes this is what I was expecting, I wish they had editors and more integration with an ipad although I do most of my recordings on a imac I would like the ability to integrate with an ipad app like auria or even cubase for ios. Some people may not like the fact that you cannot sample but really you can sample on an ipad or another sampler. I would have liked a bigger screen and a different power supply but if I start adding features I want it will add to the weight and I love that it is so lite!!!
The sounds are amazing they are up to par with anything out there. this is truly the best keyboard at this price range and maybe even rivals the big brothers because sometimes you end up spending money on features you don't use.
The keys feel great!!!!
I prefer the feel of a synth , because I started playing on a Juno 60 and a Prophet 5 that was my gear cause I was one of 2 keyboard players on a rock/pop band I also had a rhodes that I hated carrying. I rather have a light keyboard feel the action is great and I hear the MOFX8 has a great real piano feel.
This is by far the best Keyboard on it's class and as i said before if you can live with a smaller screen, no sampling and no faders this keyboard rivals any flagship of any company, you wanna go out on a gig take a MOFX it's lite and it's got any sound you need and more.

One man Band!

Product Review
To be so lightweight, this keyboard packs quite a punch.
It works for just about any type of music out there.
It would work for someone that barely knows anything about keyboards - it's pretty straightforward. If you ever get lost as far as sounds, it has a category search button you press, and the various instrument sounds come into view.
My favorite feature about this is well, the favorites button, you can save your favorite sounds in this menu, and when you need them, just press the button and they show up. And as stated above, the category search. In the studio and live, it just makes getting to sounds easy. It really helps my workflow.
Ahh.. my favorite part! To hear this thing in action, check out my youtube channel - www.youtube.com/user/daxmaestro. Yamaha has really outdone themselves with the pianos on here (I'm a pianist), plus with the expanded ability to add a flash card, you can always get new sounds to add to the keyboard. The sounds on here are really authentic. I do the one man band in and out of the studio, and when I finish my tracks, people always ask me "who is your band", or "who is your bass player", etc.. Yamaha is, lol. I'm a guitarist at heart, so that's like my top sounds on the Yamaha motif line.
It's way more than I was expecting! IMO, there's nothing in this price range that competes. The other companies do good in certain areas, this does good all around.

One heck of a bang for the buck. I owned Motif S6, MO6, MM6, XF6 and just lately the MOX6. I do not own the MOXF, because it's not out yet, but everything else from my current arsenal (Korg M3, Korg PA 600, Roland Fantom X) is going back to local store to get this baby. It has everything I need, plus the extra cash?!
Not too long ago I had reviewed the MOX. The quality of the casing felt plasticky and cheep. I don't expect much improvement on this here.
It is definitely user friendly. It is complex, and will give you plenty of reasons to scratch your head and get the manual, but we want depth and complexity, don't we? Sure it's good for beginners, if they are serious about learning.
Exactly
Superb! If it's the XF engine (with 8 insert effects now, instead of three), then it's the best. Come on, Korg and Roland won't even come close producing convincing guitar licks and phrases. I'm a guitarist, but when I sequence, I often lay down 2-3 tracks of (Motif Arp) rhythm to solo over with my Ibanez and when mixing down I catch myself keeping them! Keys are sweeeeeet. Synths are warm and fuzzy, and you have 8 freaking elements per voice and LFO and filter galore to tweak while mixing.
Controls are fine, keys are OK. I've read some websites say it is weighted synth action (like the Motif XF??? Seriously, I am having a hard time to believe it), others say it's unweighted, like the MOX .
The Motif XF is already a great deal for about $2400, right? The MOX was a steal for &1100, and for $1299 this MOXF is a sin not to own it.
Retailers will have a hard time the keep them in stock for months to come
