Purchased the Zildjian A Custom pack as well and prefer the A 391 over it.
Sounds great and projects perfectly playing live and they sound perfect for recording as well.

Cannot go wrong with this set. They live up to their name and to be able to pack that many cymbals into that low of a price, it's perfect. Whether it's to replace all your old stuff and have some backups or to get started on a whole new kit, I highly recommend.

I am not one to jump into any sort of purchase, let alone a larger one like this. After lots, and lots of research and sound comparison online I got down to 3 choices of cymbal sets. This was actually my 3rd choice at first. So after even more sound comparison watching as many different studio examples of each set as I could find, I decided on these. Largely due to the fact they are a generalized sound you can comfortably fit into most genres. I'm not an exclusive type of drummer, so I figured the general cymbals that have been top of the line for centuries would probably be the way to go. I might be stretching my wallet a little but oh man, is it worth it. The hihats are iconic, seriously. Listening to music now I can hear these exact hihats in all sorts of genres. And the sweet ride itself is a genuine gem. So perfect. I was concerned about the bell not being pronounced enough but it's so perfect. The hats and ride easily make the set worth the 800. The crashes are gorgeous too, but they definitely dont compare to how amazing the hats and ride are

Very pleased with the As, I was gonna go with something different but I’m glad I made the choice I did, great sounding cymbals and not to mention the most highly recorded by professional artists as well that alone says a lot .

These cymbals sound great, for sure. But, as with all cymbals, there is a "break in period," where the sound actually gets better the longer you play them. I've had my set for months now, and I don't play as often as probably most drummers, but I can tell they are starting to sweeten more and more by the day. Do yourself a favor, whatever cymbals you buy, give them some time before you decide you do or don't like them. As long as you take care of your cymbals, and don't bash them like crazed apes, they should provide years and years of great service. And pass along this information to other players and students of the craft too, and let them know that these cymbals take a while to break in and live up to their potential. You may find your opinion of them improves as time goes by, and you play them more. Also, don't forget to try different sticks. Nylon tipped or wood tipped sticks sound quite different on cymbals.

The cymbals have the best response to attack our of the many cymbals I own! They provide a crisp punch when I need them but also a subtle wash for more mellow tunes without getting lost in the mix.

There is no secret why the name Zildjian rings like a bell.We are talking about the company standard from Nashville to Detroit no matter what style of music or how hard or soft you play Zildjian world wide.
