It works perfectly but in all honesty I would have preferred a wireless remote.

Product Review
I only wish I bought one when I got my recorder. No more sounds of my fat fingers pressing the button on the recorder, and it long enough to have the recorder positioned where it would be impossible for me to control other wise. Rugged enough to survive my bagpiping and the grand daughter trying to use it as a microphone not knowing otherwise.

Yes.
Simply being able to start a recording from your recording position. Prior to having the remote, there was a lag and noise at the start of the recording. This was due to starting the recording and then having to walk back to my recording position and begin. The remote allows me to stay in my position, touch the buttons and begin recording....very nice!
The remote is very simple to hook up and use. I've not looked at the document that it came with.

So far so good, but I've only had it a couple of days.
Your general opinion of this product.
Love the remote. It would be nice to see a small LCD display to be able to remotely change folders and/or delete files. Still, I'm very pleased with the remote and it seems well made. Also, the device comes with an extension power cord to attach to the already long power cord.

First-hand report

I feel sure the H-4 is very well made and, perhaps, dependable-When...and IF..one has mastered its intricate ueser functions. Despite much effort, this has not yet happened for me, and never may.
There are almost too many features..I believe there should be some kind of 'streamlining' to facilitate ease and flexibility of voice/music recording.
The H-4..has such an abundance of features.so that someone like me.who wishes to assemble voice & music for broadcast can be a bit overwhelmed. A tutorial guide should be a MUST..Otherwise one is left in the dark trying to cope.
Disappointing, to say the least. Despite inputing L/R channels from my mixer, the H-4 would ONLY record on LEFT channel, with distorted sound.
I have no doubt the H-4 will stand up very well, but just not sure I can too!
Your general opinion of this product.
I admire the aim of the H-4 to be all things for all users..However, this also means a superfluity of features for one who aims at achieving a quality broadcast package for uploading. I am trying to find help to give me guidance. The bulky User's Guide is indicative of the overreach just mentioned. Just try and get to the point where you can ERASE the sound card. Following every instruction, I still could NOT do this. I am baffled and don't know where to turn for input. Many thanks.
