Samplers are digital instruments that use segments of audio recordings (‘samples’) which are then triggered by the performer. This is achieved by accessing the device’s library of internal samples or by recording and capturing bits of audio that can be made into custom samples. Samplers either have built-in internal memory, support external media storage (the earliest models used tape storage and floppy disks, while modern samplers use SD-cards or flash media) or a combination of the two. Assign samples to the touchpad buttons through the device’s interface and you’re ready to get started!
