With a versatile play style, the Solo Concerto CE Red Cedar is conducive to strumming allowing the guitarist to carry the rhythm or be soft, sweet and nuanced when played fingerstyle.
About The Solo Series:
The Solo Series acoustic-electric guitars put all solid tonewoods in a professional grade guitar at an accessible price point. Specially designed to personalize your playing experience, each Solo guitar has a Side Monitor Soundhole that virtually puts your ears in the audience while you play, without diminishing the forward sound projection of your music. This feature is especially useful when playing with a group of musicians. We have chosen warm, solid red cedar sound for the tops and upgraded the back and sides to African ovangkol. Ovangkol grows in tropical west Africa and has a similar specific gravity (density), sound and tone to Indian rosewood. Includes the reliable LR Baggs EAS VTC electronics. You will sound better, play better and play more on a Breedlove Solo Series acoustic-electric guitar.
About the Concerto Body Shape:
When we set out to create a guitar that would surpass the classic big body sound of the dreadnought, we didn’t just want it to be loud. We sought to bring out more tonal complexity, and to offer a much more comfortable playing experience, too. Introducing the new Breedlove Concerto, a new guitar shape created to elicit more volume than a classic dreadnought, and more lush, complex tonal resonance in a comfortable body shape that feels just right. Loud, textured, and supremely satisfying.
About Red Cedar:
For musicians who play the a variety of instrument, or are looking for a very specific tone offered by cedar, guitars made with this tonewood can offer a nice alternative to the spruces and other top tonewoods. This tonewood produces wonderful tones with a light touch, therefore it’s great for fingerstyle playing. If you are a fingerstyle player, then you will love the way this guitar amplifies the sound and tone.
Ovangkol is a plentiful evergreen that grows in Western Africa. It achieves a height of 100 – 150 feet and a base diameter around three feet, with long fruit pods for seeds. Its scientific name is Guiborourtia ehie, in the same family as bubinga.
It is a beautiful tonewood, often with interwoven colorful grain patters. Interestingly, its musical characteristics are almost identical to East Indian rosewood. Specific Gravity: 0.82 ovangkol, 0.83 East Indian rosewood; pounds per cubic feet: 52 ovangkol, 51 East Indian rosewood. Like rosewood, ovangkol efficiently projects bass tones resulting in a rich full sound.
Crafting Guitars to Fit Your Play Style:
This Concerto was designed for Versatile Play, Multiple Styles: Breedlove crafts most guitars with a versatile “all-purpose”sound and feel – well balanced between strumming and fingerstyle play.
Breedlove guitar necks feature a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. Unlike traditional dovetail neck joints that require major surgery for a neck re-set, it is easy to adjust the play action and neck angle with the Breedlove bolt-on neck and single-action truss rod. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish contributes to ideal playability – the finish process alone takes three days, including precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing.
Limited Lifetime Warranty:
Breedlove players around the world can attest: With consistent, proper care, your Breedlove will give you a lifetime of service – and inspiration. New Breedlove instruments, purchased through an authorized Breedlove dealer, are warrantied to be free of defects in materials and workmanship throughout the lifetime of the original owner. In addition to materials and workmanship, Breedlove offers a two-year warranty on tuning machines and electronics packages. Cases and bags are subject to a one-year warranty covering defects in structure and hardware.
