Pioneer audio
Putting together mixes, swapping channels, and adding effects is always fun. But you need to hear your beats in full high-quality audio to get the mix just right. Pioneer DJ audio equipment is ready to showcase your amazing tunes exactly as they’re meant to be heard.
In the studio, you can master your mixes to perfection with a set of Pioneer studio monitors. These powered monitors are ready to provide lush sounds across the entire sonic spectrum to help you create the perfect set for your next DJ gig.
And when you get to the gig, you want the crowd to be blown away by your incredible mixes — perhaps even literally! Pioneer DJ PA speakers and subwoofers are ready to bring the noise with a wide selection of sizes and power levels to fit any live sound need.
There’s nothing cooler than a DJ holding headphones up to their ear with one hand and spinning with the other. Of course, those headphones do serve a purpose, too… And there’s hardly anything better than a set of Pioneer DJ headphones to help you cue your set (and look good doing it).
History of Pioneer DJ
Pioneer got its start in 1937 as an electrical repair company. They specialized in fixing all sorts of radios and speakers in Japan. They also developed the Pioneer A-8, which was the first dynamic speaker built from completely original components in the country!
Pioneer first began as the Fukuin Shokai Denki Seisakusho company and operated under that name for many years. However, in 1961, the company rebranded under the name Pioneer Electric Corporation — luckily for anyone who didn’t want to learn how to pronounce the original name…
Pioneer continued to repair and produce speakers and radios for decades. But in 1994, they launched the world’s first DJ deck designed for CDs. The CDJ-500 was a top-loaded CD deck designed for professional DJs. It allowed DJs to control tempo, nudge tracks, and cue music with a basic jog wheel. At the same time, they released a complementary mixer: the DJM-500, which featured several onboard effects.
Over the years, Pioneer continued to be at the forefront of the DJ world. They released the very first DVJ, which could read and play DVDs, and set the bar for digital DJ equipment. In 2009, Pioneer released their own DJ software, rekordbox, which is still one of the most popular DJ software solutions used by musicians everywhere.
By 2014, Pioneer held over half of the entire DJ market share! And their equipment became the industry standard in clubs around the world.
In 2015, the Pioneer Corporation sold most of their DJ equipment business to a private equity firm, which established Pioneer DJ as we know it. Today, Pioneer DJ operates under the parent corporation AlphaTheta with the goal to become “One Through Music.” They continue to produce some of the best and most innovative DJ equipment around. Whether you’re a beginner looking to get into the scene or a professional DJ looking to up their game, Pioneer DJ equipment is ready to help turn your dreams of mixing and scratching into reality.
