When it comes to running a music venue, the folks over at First Avenue have seen it all. The club has presented numerous genres of music since its formation back in the 70’s, featuring artists from Frank Zappa to Prince to Nirvana, and tons more. The list of legendary acts that have passed through, and continue to pass through First Avenue, is impressive. Just take a look at the massive roster of stars painted along the exterior of the building set in downtown Minneapolis. While the club has seen different names and owners over the years, its status as an iconic venue has never been questioned. In fact, in 2010, on the day of the club's 40th anniversary, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak declared April 3rd to be First Avenue Day. With a recent upgrade to their sound system, the venue is quickly developing a reputation as one of the best sounding night clubs in the country. Enlisting the help of the fellow Minnesotans over at Electro-Voice, First Avenue had them install the works; 16 XLC cabinets and 14 XSub subwoofers, each powered respectively through tour grade TG-5 and TG-7 power amps and an RCM-26 control module. This extensive PA system allows First Avenue and Electro-Voice to push limits across the board, whether it be rock, hip-hop, soft or loud music; clarity and coverage is key, ensuring many more years of shows to come.
