Efficient Class D Power

The K.2 Series, KW Series, and KLA Series are all driven by an efficient Class D digital amplifier. The KW Series and KLA Series all offer 1,000 Watts of continuous power and every two-way and three-way speaker cabinet features a built-in electronic crossover matched to a pair of 500 Watt modules. This allows each transducer to operate more effectively by playing only the select frequencies that it was designed to reproduce—creating less overall distortion. The latest K.2 Series models deliver a staggering 2,000 Watts of clean, continuous Class D power. Subwoofer cabinets feature 1,000 Watts of overall power. Lighter in weight than a traditional amplifier, Class D amplification also generates less heat. The result is an efficient, lighter weight loudspeaker that runs clean and cool—with less wear and tear on critical components.

Intelligent DSP Circuitry

Advanced Digital Signal Processing is built into each K.2 Series, KW Series, and KLA Series loudspeaker. From clipping protection to custom-configured bass response, this DSP circuitry works to improve the sound for the best possible performance. The K.2 models provide a programmable 4-Band Parametric EQ, delay/time alignment options, and nearly a dozen preset EQ/DSP settings that can be selected based on application – plus five user preset scenes for saving custom configurations. In the continued absence of an input signal (approx. 5 minutes), KW Series and KLA Series loudspeakers offer active sensing circuitry that automatically places the amplifier in the standby mode to conserve power, and to eliminate the need for manually powering down the system. The digital amplification can start up again in a heartbeat as soon as it is needed.

Creative Connections

K.2 Series loudspeakers provide three sets of inputs, each with an independent volume knob. Balanced XLR and 1/4" inputs (with a Hi-Z level switch) and a 1/8" TRS summed mini jack are provided. KW Series models are equipped with a two-channel mixer with independent level controls. In addition to XLR and 1/4" connectors with Mic and Line level switching, stereo RCA jacks are also provided. KLA Series loudspeakers feature active controls that re-tune the cabinet response—based on the number of cabinets being used—for optimal sound. In addition, all models in all series feature a convenient pass-thru line output for daisy-chaining multiple cabinets together for a custom setup.

Versatile Cabinet Design

Plug and Play

Setup of the K.2 Series couldn’t be simpler. The rear panel offers versatile connections and control—for many applications, an external mixer and/or direct box is not required. Input A features an XLR+1/4" Combo input with Mic/Line level switching available through the setup MENU. Input B also offers an XLR+1/4" Combo input; this input can be configured as a Hi-Z input for connecting a guitar or similar instrument directly to the K.2 Series loudspeaker. A third channel – Input C – is equipped with a summed stereo 1/8" mini phone jack for use with a tablet, MP3 player, laptop, or smartphone. Each input is equipped with a dedicated Gain knob. In addition to an XLR thru-put for inputs A and B, the K.2 Series includes an XLR Mix jack that provides a post-mixer output of all three input signals.

Built-In DSP Audio Processing

Using a menu-driven user interface centered on a bright, backlit LCD panel, the K.2 Series offer instant access to extensive DSP audio processing. QSC engineers and audio professionals have created a number of Presets that deliver the right EQ and DSP settings for a particular placement or application. In addition, five memory slots exist for storing custom user scenes, so you can save that perfect sound, and recall it every time you set up and play. Here you can also adjust the display contrast, set the LED indicator functions, display the latest firmware, etc.

Any Way You Want It

The heavy-duty ABS cabinets feature deep-scoop aluminum handles; steel grilles offer extra protection on the job and on the road. Dual pole-mount sockets allow either traditional vertical positioning or a downward tilt of the cabinet by 7.5° to minimize reflections and increase coverage. In addition, built-in M10 rigging points allow the K.2 Series loudspeakers to be flown in an overhead array. Optional yoke-style brackets are available for each of the K.2 Series loudspeakers, allowing direct mounting to the wall or ceiling in a permanent installation. The multi-layer birch ply cabinet of the KSub is equipped with low-noise casters for easy transport.

Improved Audio Coverage

Acoustically, as the woofer size increases, the narrower the coverage will be as the frequency approaches the crossover point. Using DMT™ (Directivity Matched Transition) technology, QSC engineers have matched the woofer coverage to the dispersion of the high-frequency waveguides to ensure full-range audio coverage across the entire listening area. This, combined with efficient K.2 Series cabinet design, titanium 1.4" diaphragm compression driver, and axisymetric high-frequency waveguides allows either horizontal or vertical positioning with no compromise in sound quality.

Power Ranger

Each K.2 Series loudspeaker sports a staggering 2,000 Watts of clean Class D power. Highly-efficient digital amplification significantly reduces the weight of the loudspeaker and minimizes heat output. Nonetheless, be sure to allow at least six inches of unrestricted airflow around the back of the K.2 Series loudspeaker for proper ventilation and conductive cooling.
