The 1956 Stratocaster Heavy Relic in Faded Sonic Blue is a brilliant example of the extraordinary skill and artistry of the Fender Custom Shop. The deep contours prevalent on mid-50s Strat guitars are showcased here on a lightweight 2-piece ash body. It is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer that lets the guitar breathe with a Heavy Relic treatment that evokes the dinged and discolored wear from decades of play and touring. The 1-piece quartersawn maple neck has a strong, rigid feel that features a 10/56 ‘V’ back-shape. It also sports a 9.5 inch radius fingerboard with 21-6105 narrow and tall frets, which are the most popular requested size and very comfortable to play.
Faithfully replicating the cutting tones of 1950s Fender guitars, this Strat has a trio of Hand Wound 1956 single-coil pickups made with vintage-staggered Alnico 5 magnets and period-correct formvar wire. The middle pickup is reverse wound/ reverse polarity which curtails hum when used in combination with the neck or bridge pickups. Wired with a special Tone-Saver Treble-Bleed circuit that allows volume reduction without sacrificing tone and Vintage Modified #2 scheme, this guitar is equipped to meet any musical style.
Additional premium features include an engraved “Limited Edition” neck plate, single-ply eggshell pickguard; 5-way switching; vintage-style hardware; bone nut; disk string tree. Includes a Deluxe Blonde Hardshell Case, Strap, and Certificate of Authenticity.
