The Powercab® 212 Plus active stereo guitar speaker system was specifically designed for use with professional modelers. If you are happy with your modeler’s onboard cabinet models and just want to hear the sound of your presets amplified, simply connect your modeler to Powercab 212 Plus, select Flat (FRFR) mode, and play.
Switching to Speaker Modeling mode on the Powercab 212 Plus enables you to take advantage of 12 proprietary onboard speaker models—which are not the same as either cabinet models or impulse responses—for a more organic “amp-in-the-room” playing experience. Modeled speakers range from classics such as “Greenback” and “Blue Bell” to modern designs, and may be mixed or matched. Also, because Powercab 212 Plus is a stereo amp, ping-pong delays, expansive reverbs, spacious modulation effects, and even dual-amp setups will sound the way you intend them to be heard.
Additional features include a rugged-yet-lightweight plywood cabinet with flip-out kickstands, a 2-inch LCD, 128 user preset locations, XLR direct outputs, MIDI In/Out, AES/EBU and L6 LINK™ I/O, a multipurpose second input, and a USB audio interface. Third-party IRs may also be loaded and saved within presets.
FULL RANGE, FLAT RESPONSE
If you are happy with your modeler’s onboard cabinet models and just want to hear the sound of your presets amplified, simply connect the modeler to a Powercab, select Flat mode, and play. Custom coaxial speakers with high-frequency compression drivers provide the benefits of a full-range, flat-response (FRFR) speaker system—but with the rapid transient response of guitar speakers, resulting in a more authentic and familiar feel.
AMP-IN-THE-ROOM
Alternatively, bypassing the cabinet models in your presets and switching to Speaker Modeling mode enables you to take advantage of proprietary onboard speaker models—which are not the same as either cabinet models or impulse responses—for a more organic “amp-in-the-room” playing experience. Modeled speakers range from classics such as “Greenback” and “Blue Bell” to modern designs, and may be mixed or matched.
SPEAKER MODELING
The sound of great amplifiers is due to the speaker as much as the other components, yet until now no one has modeled an actual speaker driver alone, independently from the cabinet it is loaded into. Imagine having an empty speaker cabinet that you can instantly load with any one of several classic speaker types just by pressing a button. Speaker Modeling mode enables you to do just that—virtually—using a new technology developed by Line 6.
PRESETS
The Powercab 212 Plus enables you to store your complete speaker tone— the Mode in use (Flat, Speaker Modeling, or IR), its customizable display color, and all parameter settings—in one of 128 presets. Presets may be selected manually or recalled via MIDI.
USER IR SUPPORT
The Powercab 212 Plus can load and store up to 128 third-party cabinet simulation impulse responses (IRs), and select them within each preset. IRs may be installed using the free Powercab Edit software for macOS® and Windows® (available at line6.com/software).
USB AUDIO
The Powercab 212 Plus function as 16-bit low-latency stereo USB 2.0 audio interfaces that are compatible with all major DAW software, as well as iPad® and iPhone® mobile devices. They support both 44.1kHz and 48kHz sample rates. Note that connectivity with iPad and iPhone mobile devices requires an Apple Camera Connection Kit USB adapter (sold separately).
MIDI
The Powercab 212 Plus not only respond to MIDI Program Change messages, they also support Control Change messages, allowing complete remote control over various global functions and settings, as well as extensive preset editing capabilities.
DIGITAL I/O
The Powercab 212 Plus powered cabinet is available with digital I/O. Connecting them to any professional modeler equipped with AES/EBU capabilities reduces both latency and noise levels by avoiding the necessity of digital to analog conversion.
STEREO OPERATION
The Powercab 212 Plus amplifies your presets in stereo instead of mono, so ping-pong delays, expansive reverbs, spacious modulation effects, and even dual-amp setups sound the way you intend them to be heard. Use a pair of Powercab 112 or 112 Plus cabs for a powerful stereo setup with additional stereo separation.
