The sound of the 3D is surprisingly throaty and resonant. The 3D was developed with a total focus on sound. Each specification was selected and refined with the goal to give you a big and booming acoustic. Specifically to deliver a tone that is typically only found in vintage instruments that have had years to cure and be played-in. The 3D gives you that performance from day one.
The name “3D” is a nod to the three features that really distinguish this instrument:
#1- The torrefaction on the solid spruce top, a process designed to age the top to perform like a vintage acoustic guitar.
#2- The addition of a slight arch in the back to help direct and project the instrument’s tone
#3- The side-positioned sound port, that acts like a personal monitor
The 3D also has integrated active-electronics, made by Fishman along with a stunning java ebony back and sides to build upon its core design features. Michael Kelly can't wait for you to get your hands on this 3D!
TORREFIED SPRUCE TOP
The sound of the 3D is surprisingly throaty and resonant. A sonic profile that you can typically only find in a vintage acoustic guitar. The 3D can deliver this mature tone thanks to the special torrefaction process that we do to the 3D’s spruce top. This treatment more
3D ARCHED BACK
Sound is the priority on the 3D which is why we augmented this instrument with an arched back. The back has been shaped for added projection and tone-tuning. This in combination with the torrefied top delivers a big and bold tone with great acoustic projection.
The soundport on the side of the 3D acts like a personal monitor. You will hear more of the details and dynamics of all that you play. Enjoy!!
Integrated Fishman Electronics
The active amplification system by Fishman® includes an onboard control for volume and one for tone. These are mounted inside of the soundhole for easy access, and this avoids the need to cut a hole in the side of your guitar, maximizing performance.
