Mixing music is all about the truth. Specifically, true sound. Is what you’re hearing an accurate representation of what you’re mixing? Is there really that much bottom end? Will the mids sound that smooth on a variety of playback systems? The only way to know for sure is by listening with a professional set of studio reference monitors.
Having been at the forefront of studio monitor design for decades, nobody understands all of this better than JBL. And with their new patent-pending Image Control Waveguide being applied for the first time to a studio monitor at this price point, it’s time for another leap forward.

JBL LSR308
This two-way 8” powered studio monitor will shock you with its impressive power and even coverage. With a Frequency Response of 37Hz – 24 kHz and a Peak SPL of 112 dB, the JBL LSR308 produces the range and volume of speakers twice its size and price.
Components
Bi-amplified for maximum clarity and low distortion, the LSR308’s Class-D amplifier drives the low and high frequencies with an abundance of power and headroom - 56 Watts RMS into each, 112 total Watts RMS. Its 8” long-throw woofer is magnetically-shielded and delivers rich, deep bass, even at a distance. The 1” Neodymium Soft-Dome High-Frequency Transducer provides smooth, transparent highs for optimal clarity and minimal ear fatigue.
Image Control Waveguide
Originally developed for JBL’s new flagship M2 Master Reference Monitor, the Image Control Waveguide’s patent-pending design facilitates extremely accurate control of the audio from both the vertical and horizontal planes, guaranteeing flat and even response with a broad sweet spot at the mix position.
JBL’s Patented Slip Stream™
The LSR308’s Slip Stream™ low-frequency port is designed to yield deep, uniform bass at any playback level. The port’s double-flared shape effectively extends the bass frequencies and reduces turbulence.
Back Panel
Here you’ll find both balanced XLR and ¼” TRS jacks for convenient and professional cabling options. A -10 dB/+4 dB Input Sensitivity switch ensures compatibility with both professional and semi-professional audio gear. LF Trim and HF Trim switches are also included, allowing you to counterbalance less-than-ideal room acoustics and tweak your room to perfection. There’s even a volume control to adjust overall monitoring level.
Rough and Ready
As one of the most experienced and successful speaker manufacturers on the planet, JBL has developed many processes and procedures to ensure quality and durability. Subjected to a full-output, 100-hour power test, each 3 Series model is made to prove its mettle before being deemed production-ready, thus ensuring a lifetime of reliability.
Sibling Pride
JBL 3 Series reference monitors greatly benefit from technological advancements made during development of their flagship M2 Master Reference Monitor. The results speak for themselves in a studio monitor that performs well beyond its price and size.
