Product Highlights

Product Description

The Takamine Garth Brooks GB7C is a signature acoustic-electric guitar built on the back of tradition, love for music, and the need to take a guitarist’s needs into account. In a world of rapidly changing minds that often seem too focused on the next new shiny thing, the GB7C is a beacon of comforting quality that has thrived for nearly 25 years. This instrument is sure to help you take your music in the directions you want to go!

Visually, the Takamine Garth Brooks GB7C Acoustic Electric is every bit the instrument that matches the man himself. A professional level of detail, workmanlike consistency, built to perform, rock-solid reliability, and just the right number of unique touches to stand out from the crowd and show off its true skill. The sleek cutaway dreadnought body design fits your own body comfortably and the unique cutaway dreadnought-shaped soundhole (a personal Garth Brooks touch) adds that distinctive custom aura to the instrument.

The Takamine Garth Brooks GB7C’s Cedar Top really provides a responsive, full sound with an extra hint of warmth and richness. Combine that with the instrument’s beautiful Solid Rosewood Back and Rosewood Sides, and you’re getting a tone that is buoyed by a foundation of additional warmth and clarity. Rosewood is a hard tonewood that is a bit more porous than many of the alternatives. In the hands of Takamine’s master builders, this special wood is able to resonate quickly and crisply while providing a strong core foundation. The entire body is finished with a silky natural satin finish and the instrument includes a hardshell case.

All of the rest of the GB7C’s build specs? Pure rock-solid Takamine through and through. The mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard bring stability and speed up and the down the length of the instrument. The gold hardware appointments, the visual fire of the gold Takamine logo, and the pearloid tuning machines wrap up all of the final to-dos and really bring it all together.

The Garth Brooks GB7C wouldn’t be complete without the right electronics to really kick things up. The Takamine CT-4BII electronics/preamp is steadfast, strong, and wonderfully easy-to-use. Three-band EQ tone control sliders, a volume control slider for preamp output, and a built-in electronic tuner give you the performance boost needed to fine-tune your sound to perfection and sound your very best. All of this is powered with a 9-volt battery that can be easily accessed on the top of the instrument’s body.

The story of Garth Brooks and Takamine goes back over 30 years. In 1989, the young and upcoming Brooks was making his way through the Nashville music scene with his own trusty Takamine in tow. When his performance photos showed the instrument in clear view, they caught the eye of Takamine, who reached out and thus began one of the longest lasting collaborative relationships in the guitar world. Just one short year later, Garth Brooks was topping the Billboard Charts and skyrocketing to stardom, with Takamine guitars fueling his creative drive.

The original GB7C started as a concept in 1995. Brooks pitched the now-distinct soundhole, along with his preferred look and feel to Takamine and they worked tirelessly to bring all of the elements together. With his big 1996 tour fast approaching, the final prototypes were delivered to him and a very emphatic green light with given. The instrument was a resounding success and the rest, they say, is history!
