2012 American Standard Tele
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
It appears that Fender has some of the best QC on the market for their American made instruments. There is a big difference between this guitar and the mexi version I had previouslt.
|
Overall
Your general opinion of this product.
This Tele looks, feels and sounds great.
|
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The neck is smaller than my Gibson 60's neck, but very well-shaped and comfortable.
|
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
I must say I love the new pick-ups on these 2012 models. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because when both p'ups are adjusted to the sweet spot, the bridge is WAY more powerful than the neck pup. Backing off the bridge to equalize the volume really took something away from the tone, but oh well. Talk about sweet tones though. Creamy neck and biting, gritty bridge. This will come in handy for solo boosts, so I shouldn't complain.
|
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
One thing about AMS, unlike some other large stores, is you can tell they don't put their hands all over your instrument and finger it all up before you get it. This is my 6th or 7th high end guitar from them and I have never seen any signs of even a test drive. Factory fresh. This Candy Cola finish is amazing!
|
Action
How was the action out of the box?
I gave the action 4 out of 5 because this was set up for 9's, as all Fender's that I know of are. I just had to make a slight adjustment for bigger strings and fix the intonation that was ever-so-slightly off on a couple of strings.

A Great Guitar. The only problem I had with it was that the one they sent me was USED!!!! I purchased a New One, But the one they sent was used and had the protective cover removed from the pick guard and has pick marks on it, also the action was put so low all the strings hit the fretboard....
