Variax Workbench 1.5 provides Variax Electric and Acoustic owners with an interactive guitar custom shop with a complete set of tools to easily create, store, and share completely customized guitars.

For Variax Electric 300, 500, 600, and 700 instruments, Variax Workbench 1.5 provides access to a comprehensive collection of pickups, controls, bodies, and alternate tunings allowing guitarists to create an instrument that is truly unique and meets musicians’ creative needs. With Variax Acoustic 700 compatibility, acoustic players can tailor their sound with alternate tunings, mic position, compressor, trim controls, and live or studio mode ambient settings. Variax Workbench 1.5 enables guitarists to fill each slot on the Variax Model knob with a custom guitar of their own creation. Plus, the built-in librarian allows users to effortlessly store, share and backup thousands of guitar models.

Variax Workbench 1.5 is a combination USB interface and software package that allows guitarists to see and hear the physical changes to their Variax guitar in real time. It is compatible with both Windows PC and Mac OSX computers. A software only version is also available as a free download for Vetta II and POD xt Live owners.

No More Choking on Sawdust!
With Variax Workbench, you can select from a complete list of guitar bodies, pickups and placement, tone and volume controls, and tweak until you've come up with a guitar that is truly unique. With Workbench, it's like having all the greatest pickups, controls, and bodies of the greatest guitar collection, all at your instant disposal.

This combination USB interface and software package for Variax Electric family guitars allows you to see and hear the physical changes to your custom guitar in real time. Ever wonder what a single-coil pickup would sound like on a hollowbody tuned a whole octave down? Probably not. That's because it wasn't a reality... until now.

With Variax Workbench, you can now get inside your Variax Acoustic 700 and fully personalize it with live or studio ambient modes, alternate tunings, mic position, compressor, and trim controls. This combination USB interface and software package for Variax Acoustic allows you to see and hear the physical changes to your custom guitar in real time. Now you can tweak each string’s tuning on your favorite model, build the ultimate 12-string acoustic guitar from any of the available models, or put variations of your favorite guitars in every slot on the model knob!

LIVE & STUDIO Mode
If you’re playing a room that’s heavily tiled and boomy, switching to LIVE mode will give you dry sound that has the room-like reflections taken off the guitar model. However, if you’re recording direct, STUDIO mode will give you all the air and lush body modeling that you’ll need for a warm and realistic acoustic track.

MIC Position Slider
This slider gives you the ability to move the microphone model. When you decrease the slider's value it is as if you are moving the microphone closer to the guitar's sound hole. This emphasizes more of the guitar body model and the lower frequencies. When increasing the sliders value, you de-emphasize the guitar body model and hear more of an emphasis on the upper frequencies.

COMP Setting Slider
Variax Workbench makes getting great studio-quality compression easy. At 0%, you get a natural uncompressed sound for gentle, dynamic finger picking. As you move the slider towards 100%, the compressor delivers a punchy attack and smooth release for more aggressive strumming with a pick.

TRIM Volume Slider
By default, the TRIM slider is set at unity gain (0dB). TRIM allows you to attenuate or boost your guitar from -18dB up to +6dB.

Librarian
Variax Workbench allows you to make as many custom guitars as you can dream up. With Workbench's Librarian, you can keep track of your custom guitars, store them on your computer's hard drive, email them to friends, or just make a CD-ROM backup so you can load your guitars into any Variax Acoustic you use! Workbench allows you to fill each slot on the Variax Model knob with your custom guitar collection.

Hardware
Using the special RJ-45 connector, you can go inside and create custom acoustic guitar models. Using the included custom digital Variax cable and converter box, you can now USB into any Windows or Mac OSX computer and edit the guitar entirely on screen. Now you can SEE and hear in real time exactly what you're building!

If you’ve got a Vetta II or POD XT Live, you’re just a download away from creating your custom acoustic guitar. Get your free Variax Workbench 1.5 software now at www.line6.com/software.
