Pro Mark Rods

When sticks are too loud and brushes are too soft, exclusive Pro Mark Rods are just right.
Over the years, other companies have tried unsuccessfully to duplicate their unique sound and feel. Voted one of the top 15 percussion products of the last 25 years, the Rods family produces a lower volume than sticks, but more attack then brushes…perfect for a variety of applications. Handmade in the USA.

The Hot, Cool, Thunder, Lightning, and Kick Rods are made of select birch dowels. The Rocket Rods are made of bamboo dowels while the Stealth Rods are made of nylon bristles.

Hot Rods
The original...what more can we say! Imitated by others, but NEVER equaled.

Cool Rods
For a more delicate sound. Great for small rooms and quiet unplugged gigs.

Lightning Rods
For more attack and a bright cymbal sound…these larger diameter dowels mean extra projection and added durability.

Thunder Rods
The ultimate in strength and durability. Thunder Rods provide that patented rods sound. Perfect for the heaviest hitters on the planet.

Rocket Rods
Constructed with bamboo dowels surrounding a foam core. They feature solid maple handles and a movable O ring. The result is a unique feel, excellent rebound and added durability.

Stealth Rods
Made with nylon bristles and feature solid maple handles and a movable O ring. These nylon bristles produce a sound that is somewhat softer than our traditional Hot Rods.

Overall: ProMark is robbing us drummers with this product. I love 'em but they don't last 20 minutes without starting to come apart. If you use them as they're recommended (for something louder than brushes) they begin to break immediately. 5$ a pair would be too much for this. Great sound, too expensive.

Overall: Hot Rods give a more distinctive sound than brushes both on the cymbals and drums. They sound great playing on softer tunes and you can even hit rimshots for emphasis when needed.

Quality: these sticks or rods are well made and with a little help will hold up to very aggessive playing..the help is this...i use electrical tape and or shrink wrap starting about 2" from the end of the rod up onto the small edge of the red portion...with this set up i am able to play hard for long hours without the any dowel breakage..they are not inexpensive or are they cheap...if ya think about what a drum stick...or rod...in this case....goes through on one gig...these sticks hold up well for me..
Features: i use these rods in varing sizes almost exclusivly...i can maintain intensity while reducing volume in small venues or visa versa...and not overpower my bandmates or the audience..they have great rebound on my set and cymbals(i prefer B8's)..i am able to get great tone with all the sizes..the cool rods are a little lite for some venues....i do a lot of rim shots...and set up as mentioned above (taped)...these rods produce great sound i.e. tone and do not come apart...they are comfortable in my hands..which are not very large..if i need to use sticks i use hornets up to 2b...these rods have held up well for me over the years...
Sound: my rockabilly set is a small tama stage star?? unit..my heads are evan's tuned with rings..i prefer regular B8 cymbals..with my set up and these rods i get a warm..clean..phat sound..the rim shots are full..clean...crisp...i can get my B8's to sing and i can feel the cymbals at a certain point in my hands...very cool...i can push the crashes with clean sustain...these are great units..these rods....
Overall: personally i love these rods...they suit what i hear in my minds ear...they are not for everbody...fur sure..if you have an extra few dollars try em'...i would recommend the lightning rods as they are a bit heavier and have some guts..punch and clarity...at least for starters...just tape em' up..if they are to loud just back off a bit...if your a jazz, worship, or any player that needs clarity and definition with a softish edge..i'd try em'....overall in my opinion...and its just that...i have tried most of the rod based sticks and these are the top of the heap...i luv em'..................
Value: for me these rods are a great value..i can get the sound i want..they hold up very well..and suit my playing skills well...generally purchasing through online companies reduces the cost..if i buy them locally its 2x what you charge..but when and if i have to..i pay full retail...no complaints..well some...these are the sticks (rods)i use 99% of the time...worth every penny...to me...
Appearance: i just have the rods...cool,hot,lighting,and thunder...they look pretty much like the photos...the thunder rods are a hand full..the cool rods like 7a's...all the rods are well made and look as such...
