So much more than meets the eye. I bought this because of it’s history and simplicity as a way to add to my palette. It adds a very unique texture that is aggressively pleasing. I use this as my primary drive now.

Randy Rhoads

Product Review
Randy Rhoads, my favorite ‘80s axeman, used the MXR Distortion + in his guitar rig. ‘Nuff said. That’s why I bought it. It’s an affordable, good sounding distortion that ranges from mild to a good classic rock distortion. It also mixes well with MXR’s Phase 90 Guitar Pedal. It’s a bit lacking, however, when it comes to heavy metal distortion with scooped mids. If that’s the kind of distortion you seek, you may wanna check out Boss’s WAZA Craft Heavy Metal Distortion Pedal (HM-2W), or something similar. That’ll give ya the thick, heavy distortion you seek for metal, and you can scoop the mids with its midrange dials. Or you can crank them like Randy did—but know that Randy used the MXR Distortion +. Overall, the MXR Distortion + is a good sounding distortion pedal that won’t break your bankroll.

High quality, all MXRs are.
10 years and many, many moves and this pedal is still in awesome shape.
Your general opinion of this product.
I've owned this pedal for 10 years or so, it was my first pedal purchase. Since then I've built my pedal collection but never had the need to change distortion.
It takes a lot to damage the paint on these.

little box BIG distortion...great price!!!

This product is very dependable, built like a tank!!! Very Heavy. Just be careful though, when you put on the rubber foot covers for gigs if you try to take to pull them off your knobs might pop off with it. No biggie just pop them back on.
I like to know when my pedal in engaged, and the red LED does just that! I also like the white glow in the dark paint, featured on the knobs. You can easily adjust them on a dim lit stage. I've only had this pedal a couple of weeks, and so far, not a scratch on it!
Your general opinion of this product.
When I first opened the box I was like this wimpy little pedal?? but then when I cranked up this little guy I fell in love!!! It's so easy to understand, and use!!!
The controls are very easy to use. The more the output, and more of a gain boost your guitar has. The more distortion knob is turned up the more crunchy fuzz you'll get. If you like fuzz or crunchy anywhere from blink 182 to a Green day or Offspring type of crunch then this pedal is for you!
If you lower the output you lose your voice, if you lower your distortion it can become bright, but if you lay on the distortion to about 2:30 to 3 o'clock then you'll get a good dark smooth crunch!
The paint job it nice! Not to thin, and not to heavy. Easy to spot on stage. Some people are like "oh it's yellow" so what! This aint no mellow yellow, this little guy has crunch!
The action out of the box was great! It really blew me away. It was exactly what I was looking for. It even made my crappy guitar, and amp sound 10 times better! I remember thinking should I get this distortion + ? or the distortion III. The distortion III has less crunch, and fuzz, better for classic rock, and solos, but if you play modern Rock, Alternative, Metal, Punk etc. and if your looking for crunch, and fuzz. I highly recommend this pedal. You wont regret it, and Dunlop says it's guaranteed to last a lifetime! Still unsure? test the sound for yourself on Youtube!

AMAZING!

Your general opinion of this product.
QUALITY:
This thing is built like a tank, seriously, this thing is bullet proof, ill probably switch out the plastic knobs for metal ones, but if I dropped it, i doubt even those would break.
FEATURES:
Its got only output controls and distort. The collest thing about this is that using those two controls is just like overdriving a tube amp, its way better than any of the solid state overdrives Ive played!
EASE OF USE:
Its easy, plug in, turn the two pots where you want them, and wallah.
VALUE:
For the oney, this is THE best overdrive out there. Its way cheaper than a TS-9 yet sounds pretty much identical.
SOUND:
This thing sounds great, Im actually thinking about getting rid of my tube screamer now that I have this. It sounds incredible. Picture a mesa all tube head that you've cranked the volume and then dialed the master, yea its that realistic to a tube amp. Its so warm, but can bight when u want
