Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? For a korean-made guitar, it's flawless. Reading on forums about cosmetic issues others were having, mine exhibited no blemishes or noticeable issues. Reliability How has it stood up over time? Well... had to send it to L6 shortly after receiving. While playing, the variax would randomly start bouncing between different models on its own. Rather than isolate the problem, they replaced the board. Seems to be fine now, but I was without the guitar for a few weeks after having it only about the same amount of time. Rich and tech support were great, but it had a problem, nonetheless. General Your general opinion of this product. My overall opinion of this guitar is it's great in theory, but in the end it leaves you feeling as if you've purchased a gadget. The good news is beneath all the electronics lies a really great guitar. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Plays well; a bit chunky for my taste but might easily be remedied with lower action and some 9s. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? On its own, great tone, great pick ups, with good control between. The modeling, however, is dark and a bit flat with no major delineations between some of the classic guitar models. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? Again, flawless! I ordered the black and it is almost luminescent and seems to go to infinity when looking into it. Really beautiful finish. Action How was the action out of the box? Action is playable but way too in my opinion. This is made worse with the 10s that come strung on it, which leads me to another point. If your looking for a shredder, get the 69 or the two octave one. The 59 is just not built for acrobatics.
A huge step up from the origional Variax

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? The guitar is MUCH better made than the original. I feel like I'm playing a real quality guitar than a student level import. Naturally not as well made as my PRS, but I don't have much of an issue switching between the two guitars. Side by side with my PRS, this guitar looks really good. Reliability How has it stood up over time? My fingers are crossed that it will hold up. This is the one thing that I'm most concerned about based on the issues I had with the original Variax. General Your general opinion of this product. I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with this guitar. I purchased this guitar with much skepticism, figuring that I'd be sending it back. I had the original Variax, which I had nothing but problems with right out of the gate. I could never gig it because I didn't trust it to get through the night without failing. Not to mention, it lacked a bit in it's sounds (especially when alt tuned) and it felt like I was playing a cheap toy. This is a much different guitar. I really like playing it, it sounds really good and, so far, it's not failed me. My main guitar is a PRS and I drag 2 or 3 other "specialty" guitars with me for specific songs...alt tunings, etc. Now I can just use my PRS and this. Nothing else is needed. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? It's a little heavy, but that doesn't bother me too much. Played Les Pauls for a while so I knew what to expect. The neck is just a little fatter than I'd like, but I've gotten used to it. If they ever make a model with the option of a gibson style "slim-taper" or PRS "wide-thin" neck shape, I'll will buy that in a heart-beat. Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? The stock humbucking pickups are a little brighter and less bassy when comparing to the Les Paul model on the guitar. I actually like this as it fills a tone that the modeling does not. Finish How did the stain or paint job look? The finish is very good. Just a little bit of an issue at the very top of the headstock, but barely noticable Action How was the action out of the box? Action out of the box wasn't very good, but was easily fixed. After having my guitar guy set it up, it plays great.

Quality Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? Reliability How has it stood up over time? General Your general opinion of this product. First things first. Does this guitar really sounds like every single guitar they have attempted to model? No. That would be imposible considering the infinite posibilities recording solutions nowdays have for folks like us, but they recreated these guitars so close that the general musician wont notice you played a modeled guitar. The sound of the guitar bypassing the models is awesome, it has its own personality and that lone is wonderfull, the models are recreated amizingly close and the acoustics are unbelievable, having 2 processors the guitar changes models and tunnings without hesitation, the posibilities of customizing your toneare endless. It took me sometime to become familiar with all the functions and features. The craftmanship surpasses the best, it feels, looks and plays like it was hand made specially for you and looks like no other guitar out there. Im mainly a studio musician and i have not played any pther guitar in a while, recording with this is truly fantastic. Playability and Feel How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? Tone Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? Finish How did the stain or paint job look?
