I've had it 2 days, spent 4 1/2 hours trying to get the software to work...it NEVER did! NO Midi out!!! Are you kidding me?! NO 1/4 in. outs. RCA connectors, in and out...period! I did know that going in, but, didn't realize what a pain in the a$$ that would become in a real life Music situation. If you work with it in your lap, as I would guess most people would, if it's on batteries, and your working, you'll have it in your lap. Well, the 1/4 in/ Headphone jack is TOTALLY in the wrong place. Just mess with it, you'll see what I mean. I would simply say to Roland, If you want real Musicians to buy this stuff, think more like a real musician, and less like a kid with a toy.

It feels sturdy the case is metal but the buttons feel very stiff compared to other samplers/drum machines.
The ability to easly sample and add effects.
Sampling is easy to do but, it's very difficult to precisely edit samples like you would expect with such a sampler. The idea of the SP404 is great but it needs a more engaging screen with more usefulness and less flash.
Sound great no complaints at all. Sample quality is good.

It's value is only as good as you find it useful. Sampling is fun but editing is a hassle. You'll either like it or not. It's a quick sampler and not something like the MPC. It's not made to be technical but it's made to be fast and effective and that it is.
It's a sampler so there was no action till I started using it to sample sounds. PReloads were fun to play with though.
Yes, the value was pretty decent.
