This thing sounds fantastic. It has the cutting, bright sound I was looking for, especially when playing with nylon tip sticks. Wood tip sticks have that great woody stick definition that is just awesome. If this ride doesn't cut through everything like butter, you'll need to mic your kit. You can crash the ride for accents and such, but it's not meant for crashing. It's definitely not a crash/ride. It's too heavy for that. The cymbal will sound great through all levels though, from very soft playing up to very loud playing. It will work for jazz and/or rock music. The bell sound is delightfully perfect. In fact, it's the best ride bell I've heard, and I've been around for a long time now.
