If the amp bottoms out you need a better amp for metal. One mistake people make with this pedal is the top boost.you never want it turned past 9 or 10 o'clock or the pedal sounds shrill.top boost can be used for some rhythems if you turn it to the area around 7 o'clock or 8 this will give you a sweep like effect. You won't need to do it though because the equal without the top boost is very aggressive. There are many pedals out there and this one is the best it gust takes some getting use to. If this pedal doesn't get you the sound you want you need a better amp. If you have a peavey valveking they are not a metal amp. This pedal won't do you any good for the vk.
