Crafted Tones, Forged for Rock
Katana—the traditional sword carried by the historic samurai of Japan—is a symbol of honor, precision, and artistry in Japanese culture. Adopting the majestic sword’s name with pride, the Katana series presents guitar amplifiers with smooth, cutting tones honed by generations of dedication and expertise. Born of the development process behind the acclaimed Waza amplifier, these innovative amps embody Boss’s determined pursuit of the ultimate rock sound. Featuring proprietary circuit designs and meticulous tuning, the Katana series combines traditional craftsmanship and breakthrough functions to produce true next-generation rock amplifiers.

A Refined Amp with Inspiring Tone
Designed for guitarists who are serious about their sound, the Katana 212 offers exceptional tone and touch response for stage playing, recording, and simply practicing at home. Two custom 12-inch speakers are driven by a special method developed for the flagship Waza amp that optimizes the speaker and cabinet character. This gives you authoritative punch and cutting presence previously attainable only with high-end amp designs. In combination with the five selectable amp characters, the Katana 212 produces class-defying power and expressiveness to meet any playing situation.

Five Original Amp Characters, Honed for Rock Playing
Sharpened to perfection by the Boss engineering team, the Katana 212’s five amp characters offer everything from organic vintage tones to modern high-gain sounds. Clean is natural and transparent, while Crunch offers satisfying grit and response. Lead has a wide gain range to suit many styles, from fat, stinging blues solos to fluid legato shredding. With DNA inherited from the Waza amp, Brown delivers refined high-gain tone sought after by the world’s greatest rock players. The Acoustic character further enhances the Katana’s versatility, providing optimized tone that makes acoustic-electric guitars sound stunningly natural.

Leave Your Pedalboard at Home
With its built-in Boss effects and recallable Tone Settings, the Katana 212 lets you perform anywhere with just a guitar and amp. Connecting to Boss Tone Studio via USB provides access to 55 effects that are fully customizable for your needs. Going beyond standard distortion, delay, and reverb, the selection also includes powerful tone-shapers like pitch shifting, ring mod, slicer, and more. You can load 15 different effects in the amp at one time and use up to three simultaneously. Four Tone Settings let you store custom amp and effects setups for instant recall, and you can always jump to the current panel settings at the touch of a button. It’s also possible to connect optional footswitches and expression pedals for hands-free control on the gig.

Grab-and-Go Operation
While the Katana 212 includes many advanced features, it’s amazingly simple to operate. Dedicated knobs for multiple gain stages, three-band EQ, and presence allow you to quickly dial in your tone by ear, just as you would with a standard tube amp. Essential effects parameters are adjusted with a simple knob twist, and memories can be stored with a brief button hold. The Power Control is great for throttling back the volume for small stages and home playing, and also includes a Standby setting that mutes the sound for switching guitars or taking breaks. And by flipping out the integrated tilt stand, you can easily angle the amp back for better sound projection.

Boss Tone Central
At the Boss Tone Central website, you’ll find numerous free amp and effects setups for the Katana series. Created by pro guitarists, these setups provide ready-to-play sounds for various music styles, and also make great starting points for building your own sounds. They load into the memories in a Katana amp via the Boss Tone Studio editor software, which is also available at the site. In addition to Katana effects selection and customization, BOSS Tone Studio gives you a convenient way to organize all your Katana setups for different gigs, recordings, and practice sessions.

What is your opinion of this product?
We're is the bottom end? Tones are sub par at best. Loud as hell but still high volumes love end sounds flabby no punch or tightness whatsoever...Line 6 is by far a better modeling amp...

Great Amp period!!
What is your opinion of this product?
Well, I've owned this amp for about 5 months now and I'm still amazed at the tones I'm able to get from this amp. I play Gospel, blues, R and B, soul and smooth jazz, and this amp supplies all the tone I need. I mostly use the clean channel and when I first started playing the clean channel I wasn't sure if it sound more like a marshall or a fender tube amp. Then I found out that the clean channel was based on the Roland JC120, no wonder the clean channel sounds so rich. I normally play the amp clean and use my foot pedals and it take pedals extremely well. I recently when to a brick and mortar store to try out some 1,000 plus tube amps and immediately when home to play my 2X12 Katana and frankly I liked the sound of the Katana better. Best 500 bucks I've ever spent on an Amp. Check it out. Like I said this is a great amp period.

4 & 1/2 stars really, but who's counting. great solid state, and as loud as you've heard it is
What is your opinion of this product?
Just got it. Sounds really good, noise at high gain as others stated, though I use it clean with pedals. Glad I got the 2x12 cause anything smaller may not sound as good. You could gig with this easy. A little on the sharp side, clean, kind of cutting. It is solid state, and I have a vox ac15, so it is nice to have a tube amp for the tube tone and this for stereo when I jam out. Great customer service at AMS and they have helped me get all my gear.

I love it, you can't go wrong with it
What is your opinion of this product?
This is 1 of the best amplifier's that I played through & I've been playing since the age of 12 & I've played through peaveys, fenders, marshalls, rolands, randalls, crates, and not 1 of these can compete with the boss katana. I just love it, I don't believe I would trade it for nothing in the world & yes, I would recommend this amplifier, when I 1st heard it on YouTube I knew I would love it & I did & when I saw the fedex truck pull up I knew what they were bringing & when I unboxed it & heard it, I fell in love with it all over again. This is an amplifier that should be treated like your baby or a man's wife and thanks AMS for this great hear & just know that I will continue to shop with you all

Well worth the money
What is your opinion of this product?
Just used this last night for a small gig, this little amp has such great tones for not being a tube amp. plenty of power and very clean. I did not use the distortion that is built in the amp, but it loved my Boss 1oo pedal board. the big plus it don't weight that much for a 2 12 combo amp . It's very well built, now to buy a cover for it =)

Off the HOOK!
What is your opinion of this product?
In my fifty year career I've had a lot of GOOD amps, both tube and solid state. I started using Roland JC120s when they were introduced in the 70s. I still use a JC77 because it's lighter. Roland is dependable. Boss is a Roland subsidiary. Boss FX have been part of my arsenal for a long time. The Katana 100-212 is every amp I've ever owned and more. No monitor screen to scroll through, just dial in what you want. AND… what you want is in there. Save it with a touch. Timer 4. Then dial in another and use it on the panel. The weight of this twin twelve is LIGHT. Only 2 pounds more than my JC77. The acoustic amp setting is exactly that. Everything on this amp is exactly what it says. And you can tailor it to provide the Boss FX you like. This, as far as I'm concerned, is THE AMP. You won't find ANYTHING better for the money.
