Ready to play right out of the box!
What is your opinion of this product?
This is my first American Standard Jazz Bass as well as be my first American made passive bass as well. Sounds great and very versatile as well. I was amazed that I was able to play it right out of the box! I didn't even have to tune it. This bass also is light and not heavy on the shoulders which is good for my disability. Every base player should have an active and passive bass. Therefore, I say go with the Fender American Standard Jazz Bass. You can't go wrong especially with those Fender custom 60's pickups.

    Awesome piece of equiptment
What is your opinion of this product?
I got a black jazz and replaced the white scratch plate with a black one and it is one sexy beast! I mean to the point where I am kinda gawking at it. I like my action lowish, had to set it to my liking from the box, Fender seems to set the action a bit high from the factory. The tone is friggin' awesome! I have a P and a P/J, haven't had the J for too long, but it is already my favorite of the three. I've been messing around with different J's (American Deluxe/Geddy & Active) and just have not really been too impressed. The American Deluxe is a stunning piece to look at, but i just didn't really 'feel' the tone. So I took a stab with the American Standard as they have the vintage 60's single coils. I have not been too terribly impressed with the "noiseless" PU's, but there is zero hiss coming from my amp with these PU's, just beautiful Growl. The neck is nice and comfortable. Easy to move around on and not as hard to play as the P, although I love my P and the way the neck feels.
