Product Description

Big, bold and righteous, the G2420 Streamliner Single Cutaway Hollow Body is designed for the modern guitarist who yearns for something beyond the norm. A commanding guitar for powerful players, the G2420’s modern sonics, updated electronics and authentically elegant style create the latest iteration of That Great Gretsch Sound!

Gretsch G2420 Streamliner Hollow Body Single Cut Features

  • Laminated Maple body
  • Rosewood fingerboard
  • Gretsch Chromatic Tailpiece
  • Broad’Tron Humbucking pickups
The secret to the Streamliner’s sound is a new offering from Gretsch—the Broad’Tron humbucking pickup. Specifically designed by the expert engineers at Gretsch for the Streamliner, this high-output pickup spawns robust lows, pristine highs and a throaty midrange for a unique tone that blends well with other instruments in a band context. This sonic power is harnessed and shaped by the traditional control layout—neck and bridge pickup volume controls, a master tone control, master volume control and three-way pickup switching.

A fast-playing 12 inch-radius rosewood fingerboard with elegant pearloid block inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets sits atop the white-bound nato neck with a thin U-shaped profile—ideal for chord work or firing off speedy riffs. Enjoy rock-solid tuning stability courtesy of the stylish Gretsch chromatic tailpiece, Adjusto-matic bridge with secured rosewood base and synthetic bone nut. Parallel tone bars reinforce the top, allowing free vibration for familiar hollow body tone while providing a strong, balanced voice.

All the classic eye-catching style you’ve come to expect from Gretsch is here—vintage-style gold control knobs, F Holes, elegant two-ply white and black body binding, slick-looking nickel hardware, arched laminated maple construction and single-ply black pickguard with Gretsch logo. Nearly impossible to put down once you pick it up and start playing, the G2420 Streamliner Single Cutaway Hollow Body is an astounding take on the authentic sound and classic style you’ve come to expect from Gretsch.

Incredilble quality for the money

Product Review

I still can't believe how affordable this guitar is! I bought the Brooklyn Burst and the finish is flawless and beautiful. The binding and fretwork are top-notch. On looks alone, this guitar is worth every penny. It’s just as pretty as any Gibson I’ve ever seen. This guitar plays really, REALLY well. The neck seems a bit fatter and rounder than my other Gretschs, but it still has a familiar, comfortable feel. The frets are rather small too, but it's nothing that negatively affects the playability for me. The pickups are most definitely not your classic jangly Gretsch Filtertron-type pickups. They're voiced to be more of a typical PAF-style humbucker with a little high-end sparkle. Personally, I love how the pickups sound. They're raunchy, and that's a good thing! You can achieve some seriously beefy tones out of this guitar - but keep in mind - it is a full hollow body so you'll need to watch your volume levels as it is more prone to feedback. That can be tamed though, and with some care you can use that to your advantage. All in all, this guitar is highly recommended!

Plays like a guitar twice it’s price.

Product Review

I’ve had this guitar several months now and have owned a few similar guitars in the price range (Ibanez AF’s and AG’s mostly.) This guitar is definitely the best of all the ones in this range I’ve played. Excellent build quality, looks sharp, and didn’t even feel the need to consider aftermarket pickups. Plays like butter with semi-rounds. Solid tuners. Intonates properly and came setup quite well from the factory, which is a small thing but rare.

Fantastic guitar! Thanks AMS!

Product Review

From a Beatles tune, to a high energy Tiger Army riff and back around for some City and Colour or James Taylor melodies, the Gretsch G2420 is very versatile and delivers beautiful tones and smooth playing, but can also growl with some serious attitude. Craftsmanship and attention to detail are superb, greatly exceeding my expectations for a guitar in this price range. If you’re on the fence, do yourself a favor and kindly hop on over. You won’t regret it. Thanks for a great shopping experience, incredibly fast shipping and a fantastic guitar, AMS! You guys rock!

Very worthwhile investment

Product Review

1st off, she's a thing of beauty. Took it out of the box, tuned it up, and played it at home for several hours. Could not come up with any needed adjusting of the neck, saddle, bridge. Intonation is pretty tight. Took it to two gigs last night, one smaller one in a bar and grill and she turned some heads. Left there and went to another place where my buddies, "Building 12", were playing. This was quite the different venue being of a more high wattage kick ass classic rock and roll venue. As with any acoustic or full hollow body guitar, you have to beware of sonic vibration feedback if the stage amps are behind you. Had to dampen out the body while playing until I repositioned myself from standing directly in front of the amps. But the SOUND this guitar put out over their rig on stage was damn near better than sex. (Sorry but it's true). Still looking for the right strings; the strings need to be bright, because of the same twin humbucker pick ups. It's a perfect blues guitar.

Sounds clear and full and gets fuzzy as hell with the dirt. Does feedback at higher volumes with distortion. This axe immediately put me in touch with my inner Nugent.smooth and fast neck.

Such a great guitar for an unbelievable low price.

Product Review

I don't claim to know too much about guitars, but I went into a local music store and wanted to play a Gretsch they didn't have, so I incidentally picked this guitar just not to waste the trip. I sat down, plugged in, and was immediately awestruck at the playability. I went home and researched quite heavily the G2420 and found out I just didn't happen to pick up an already set-up unit. After doing research on several other models and brands, I decided to buy the G2420 (black) though AMS. Thjekudos the AMS receives from is grand, but the guitar is somethin' else. This rig really screams! The fretboard is very fast and smooth. It's sound is very strong. It's a very hard instrument to put down. For the price, I really believe you cant get a better guitar (new). Get 'em while they're hot!! Best wishes to all!!

Absolutely Outstanding Purchase! Amazing Buy! Beautiful Guitar!

Product Review

I have been purchasing new guitars since 1989. This purchase is one of the best I have ever made. Gretsch hit the ball out of the park with the Streamliner series. The fit & finish is flawless. My hollow-body arrived set up very well also. The colors are beautiful. The binding and and other details are on par with guitars at 5 times the price. I'm stunned at what a buy this fine guitar is. This model plays beautifully and effortlessly. Do not hesitate if your on the fence with this model, you wont be disappointed at all. This is one of the rare times when a manufacturer has priced the product almost to low for the features and build quality. To think this guitar cost $449 is really a steal. Yes I will change a few things, but making some custom touches is half the fun too! As a side note American Musical shipped this guitar with lightning speed. It arrived in perfect shape, not even the smallest flaw. I couldn't be happier with this guitar and the service from this seller.
