Best Guitar Amp Microphone
Product Rating

Product Review

This microphone is one of the best suited for handling guitar amps and other louder close mic applications, especially where a low profile is advantageous, such as on stage or in a cramped studio setting. The mike can be hung/slung over a speaker cabinet or mounted on small footprint stand and placed directly in front of speaker cone/grill. The flat design allows for setup in extremely tight spaces. The frequency response of 40-18k works well on most amplified instruments. It is designed optimally to handle high sound pressure levels (loud) without pads. Response is fairly flat and even across the entire range. It is also super-cardroid pattern meaning crosstalk can be kept to a minimum, important when mic'ing multiple cabs. I found these to be superior to the standard sm-57 type mics for guitar cabinet pickup, more bottom end, crisper high end and very low profile. They are also fairly durable. I've been using mine for a long time and they have held up well.

Great sounding versitle mic

Product Review

I now own 6 of these, and will never consider another mic for guitar. They accurately pick up the amp sound, usually with very little tweaking to the EQ. And their physical design allows you to hang them over the cab, eliminating the need for yet another mic stand to trip over. And, because of the larger diaphragm than some other instrument mics, these are suited well for toms and bass amps.

Great guitar cab mic

Product Review

This microphone is amazing for recording guitar. I really enjoy it on clean and crunch. Sounds like a blanket is taken off the mids compared to the sm57

Sennheiser E609 - a must have mic for studio and stage

Product Review

This is the 2nd E609 in my studio mic collection. Been using the first one for several years now. So useful for live work too. I use them to record small guitar amps, and also to mic the snare. It's easier to get a good isolated snare track than the old Shure 57 standard. While it's made for mic'ing a guitar amp I find it a really versatile mic for drums. Useful for bass guitar amp too but there are other mic's that specialize in covering those frequencies. The 609 is a serious value and affordable too. Never had any issues with performance or technical issues. If you play guitar live mic'd up or work in a studio it is a 'must have'.

Great Mic, good value for the quality.

Product Review

Great Mic, good value for the quality. I play through a 3/4 stack all tubes so volume is not a problem. Getting the right sound from the cabinet to the pa or recording device is very important. I would recommend it.

This mic delivers the sound you are looking for.

Product Review

Our band played through these mics at a bike rally in the spring. After hearing how they sounded on the video, I knew these were the microphones we needed. I highly recommend these for any group looking to bring forth their amps for more clearer sound. You wont be sorry if you purchase these.

Should've Bought One Years Ago

Product Review

Exactly what you want in front of your cabinet. Great sound quality, and the flat profile makes it less likely to be a trip hazard. If you are miccing your cabinet with anything else you're doing it wrong.

great to use with the trusty sm57

Product Review

I have finally run 2 mics for both amps. the sound is so much better, it really sounds more like how I hear it playing out. this mic is great. I use it with a shure sm57 on my vox ac15. it is a great complimentary sounding mic, this one has more highs and that is great cause the sm57 can be a little murky. I would recommend it for a standalone guitar amp mic, and REALLY recommend it for the 2nd mic on an amp, to get a nice full sound recording.
