Product Description

Steinberger presents the Steinberger XT-25 Standard 5-string Bass, the Ultimate Travel Bass featuring the revolutionary Steinberger body design, a Low B-5th string, patented DoubleBall Bass Bridge, patented 40:1 Ratio Direct-Pull tuning system, powerful Steinberger HB pickups, plus a deluxe gigbag. The Steinberger XT-25 Standard 5-string Bass is part of the new Steinberger Spirit Series.

Revolutionary Steinberger Bass Design
There was nothing like Ned Steinberger’s guitars and basses when they were first introduced in 1979. Today, with their lightweight and headless design, Steinberger basses are still bold, modern instruments that offer players both a smooth tonal response and rock solid intonation at any position on the neck.

The Steinberger XT-25 Standard 5-string Bass features the revolutionary Steinberger Bass design with a 5th string tuned to Low B, a Poplar body, and a 3-piece Hard Maple neck that combined resonate as a single piece of wood. For traveling musicians, the XT-25 5-string is the Ultimate Travel Bass. At 38.5 inch long and only 8.2lbs, its ergonomic design makes it easy to take anywhere including overhead airline compartments. And thanks to its headless construction and 3-piece Hard Maple neck, the XT-25 isn’t as sensitive to temperature changes, which makes it virtually indestructible! The neck has a comfortable 1960's style SlimTaper-D profile with a basswood composite fingerboard, 24 medium jumbo frets, a 34 inch scale length, and a 14 inch radius. A folding leg rest sits compactly on the lower bout of the body. A deluxe padded gigbag is included.

Patented DoubleBall Bass Bridge
Steinberger basses are renowned for their exceptional tone and intonation at all positions. With no headstock, the XT-25 5-string has a Zero Nut Fret with a width of 1.625 inch that moves up to 2.40 inch at the 12th fret as the neck subtly widens to 0.64 inch string spacing at the bridge. The Patented 40:1 Ratio Direct-Pull tuning system and Patented DoubleBall Bass Bridge with steel saddle provide exceptional stability and sustain.

Without a traditional headstock, the weight of the XT-25 feels more balanced than a typical electric bass even with an added 5th string. Fine tuning adjustments are made at the bridge and string changes can be made fast! The Steinberger XT-25 is set up at the factory with Steinberger DoubleBall (45-65-85-105-128) strings. Plus, with the Single Ball String Adopter, you can set also set up the XT-25 with any bass string of your choice.

Superb Steinberger Pickups
The Steinberger XT-25 Standard 5-string Bass is powered by Steinberger full tone HB-1 (bridge) and HB-2 (neck) humbucker pickups. Controls feature black Steinberger style knobs for Neck Pickup Volume, Bridge Pickup Volume, and Master Tone.

Limited Lifetime Warranty

My first trip with a headless anything. I have a hand injury and was concerned about the scale but it actually works pretty good for me. The lack of body takes some getting used to. But it's not bad. I like it

Sad Steinberger

Product Review

I don't expect to get a top quality bass for this one's price point, but I have had more problems with it than I expected. The first one I ordered had a bow in the neck and I couldn't even attempt to correct the issue because the hole for the truss rod access was off center making it impossible to get the allen wrench in position. I returned it for another one - Customer service was awesome! - The second one has also had some minor neck issues, but I think I have got them mostly ironed out, though I am a little irritated to have to do this kind of maintenance on a brand new instrument. I am also not too impressed with the pick ups, but I sort of expect that on a bass under 500.00. Plus I'm kind of picky :) I have not changed the strings yet, but the double ball set up looks pretty straight forward. The tuners are pretty easy to get used to. Because of the small body and how the strap connects, it puts the neck out a bit further than a standard sized bass. I have read some complaints about that, and it took a bit to get used to, but I think it is one of the fun quirky things about the instrument. It also has a '0 fret' instead of a nut that helps give it really good sustain, but I have also found that I need to work a little harder to mute string noise. I find the small body comfortable to play and it has a little kickstand you can use in the sitting position that works well. All around despite it's flaws, it is a fun quirky little bass to play but I also feel compared to an original Steinberger it is only a shadow of it's former self
