Crafted as part of a limited run of premium GS Mini models, the GS Mini-e Koa pairs a solid koa top with a back and sides of exotic veneered Hawaiian Koa. As a tropical hardwood, a koa top will initially project a bright and focused tone, especially together with koa back and sides, but as it's played, it matures into an increasingly warm, rich, sweet sound with healthy overtone "bloom," especially in the midrange. A common mistake is when a "bright" player buys a koa-top guitar in part for its visual beauty, finds it to be too bright, and doesn't play it enough to allow the wood to develop its resonant tone.
Onboard ES-B electronics include a built-in digital chromatic tuner with an LED display for tuning and low battery indication. The ES-B pickup incorporates Taylor’s Expression System® 2 piezo design elements and features an onboard preamp with a built-in digital chromatic tuner. The preamp/tuner unit features an LED display for tuning and low battery indication, along with Tone and Volume controls. The preamp/tuner is powered by two button cell 3v lithium (CR2032) batteries. Two new batteries will provide approximately 300 hours of use. The ES-B conserves battery life using a standard on/off system that will automatically turn off if left on over 3 minutes. A low battery indicator on the LED display (located on the preamp circuit board) will display an “L” when the battery reaches 4.5 volts.
The compact Mini’s scaled-down design blends ultra-portability with the voice and projection of a full-size guitar, while Taylor’s patented NT neck guarantees signature Taylor playability.
