Product Description

The Vox AC15C1X Custom Guitar Combo Amplifier combines classic Vox chime with an upgraded 12-inch Celestion Alnico Blue speaker, providing that vintage tone that made the original AC15 an instant classic! 15 watts of all tube tone from two EL84 power tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes give the AC15C1X superb clean and legendary grit when cranked. If you want that coveted Vox sound, look no further than the AC15C1X Custom amp!

An Evolution in Tone
Vox Custom Series amps offer two channels: Normal and Top-Boost. Each channel is equipped with its own Volume control, and the Top Boost channel offers highly interactive Treble and Bass tone controls. This powerful channel pairing provides an abundance of tone-crafting control, letting you dial in a classic sound that is all your own.

Both channels rely on the Tone Cut and Volume controls in the Master section. The Tone Cut control operates in the power stage rather than the preamp stage, allowing an additional degree of tone-shaping. The Master Volume control works in conjunction with the individual volumes of each channel to create just the right degree of gain-staging. By balancing the individual and Master volumes, the AC15C1X can deliver a clean VOX chimey sound to a powerful overdriven tone.

Sound in Motion
You can sweeten the sound of the AC15C1X Custom amp using the built in Tremolo. Both the speed and the depth are adjustable, allowing you to generate just the sound you want. A warm Spring Reverb is also included on all Custom Series amps, adding spaciousness to the sound. All Custom Series amps can use the VOX VFS2 footswitch, allowing you to turn the Reverb and Tremolo effects on and off as you continue to play.

Power Sharing
The AC15C1X combo makes use of 3 x 12AX7 preamp tubes and uses pair of EL84 tubes to drive a single 12 inch Celestion Alinco Blue speaker. All models in the Custom Series offer a switchable 8/16 ohm output jack for powering an external speaker cabinet when you need to speak with a little more authority; using this jack will mute the internal speakers. Additionally, a 2nd extension speaker jack allows you to run an extra 16 ohm cabinet along with the internal speakers for a fuller sound.

This Vox amp is just what I needed for my acoustic/electric guitars. I had been plugging into my Marshall Halfstack, but I never was satisfied with the sound. With the Vox, that problem is now solved!

Great amp for the money

Product Review

I bought this amp because I wanted that classic Vox chime on a dime. This is probably the loudest 15watt amp you can buy.I can dial in nice Fender tone with this amp but I can't dial in Vox tone with a Fender amp.

A few tweaks shy of great

Product Review

First things first: this is a great-looking, compact and with a whole lot of great sounds to offer. Very flexible and easy to dial in. With single-coils, it can be a bit shrill; using the normal channel, and dialing in the Tone Cut knob, puts the excess treble firmly on a leash. Top Boost channel is great for a little more hair on your overdrive tones. Awesomely rich tremolo. Now to the quibble: 5-star rating misses and falls to 4 due to the reverb having been DOA. This turns out to be a common occurrence due to the poor quality of the stock tank. Rather than go back-and-forth with returns or warranty work, I ordered a MOD replacement tank from Amplified Parts.$20 and 2 minutes with a screwdriver got me reverb, decent if not quite Dick Dale worthy. Easily fixed, but Vox would do well to consider a new source for that particular part - the only blemish on an otherwise great value.
