This microphone is simply amazing. I’m getting the fullness and pure tone of the maple shell and crisp punch of the beater side head. Best investment I’ve made in awhile. Thank goodness for American Musical Supply.

This is one of thise purchases that yields results immediately. The low end, and attack on the kick drum are captured perfectly by this mic. There’s a reason this mic is preceded by it’s reputation. Great on bass amp applications too.

Comes with everything you need at a professional level, this mic meets all my expectations. I have had many Kick Drum mics in my time, but I love the Audix D6. It has a nice thump to it and also has a great hi end slap. I love putting the D6 inside the kick drum. Its nice to only need one good mic for the kick drum. This is my 4 Purchase of this mic. and still love it.

I own Audix D2 mics and LOVE them on toms! The D6 is bullet proof as all pro Audix mics are! BUY THE MIC STAND PACKAGE! I thought the included mic stand would be a cheapy, but it's NOT. This stand is on par with my premium K&M stands (the best) and FAR FAR FAR better than the cheaper brands!
The right sound. The right build quality. A great mic stand too!
It's very hard to get a bad sound with this mic. I use them live and in the studio. The stand is rock solid, strong threads that wont strip, heavy base and very smooth telescoping.
Not as scooped in the mids and not quite as bass heavy as the Shure B52, but with the same great clarity on top....I find it's more balanced than the B52, which has a huge hole in the shell tone and is all "woof" and "click" (which is sometimes what you want). It IS more bass heavy and mid scooped than the AKG D112, most A-T kick mics, the Sennheiser 421 and EV RE20.

almost no EQ required
Place it just inside the sound port and walk away.
if you dont know how to EQ a kick drum this mic is perfect for you. A flat eq with this mic sounds just as good as a well EQed D112. with a bit of EQing, gating, and compression this is by far the biggest kick sound you can get. Floor toms are HUGE bass guitars are tight and deep sounding. All around excellent choice for any low end instruments.

Your general opinion of this product.
an, I read about it on the live-sound web chat room, and always striving for 'that sound', gave it a try. I usually patch the kicks thru a side-chain Para with a comp/limiter to get rid of the mud, and generally tune the drum to what I need. A lot of drummers don't seem to take the time to really set up their kit well, and FOH has to jump thru some serious hoops sometimes. This Mic KICKS-ASS! Great gain and i don't have to eq anymore! I still comp/lim because I value my gear, but the tone of this mic is great! I've used D12's, the Senn'ies, 91's with the B52's and this D6 with a 57 on the beater makes an incredible sound. Hands-down. No money wasted here and the thing tours well.
