Product Review I've heard many raw tracks recorded with a real 1176 although I've not actually worked with one directly. To my ears this unit sounds almost exactly like a real 1176, maybe just a little smoother and more controllable. Can't believe how good it sounds on vocals. You can hit it hard without a lot of pumping, although, a little goes a long way. The HPF and LPF come in handy, too. It's a must have for dynamic singers. I think I'll still use an ADL1000 for the more disciplined singers. Worth every penny.

Product Review The Seventeen sounds so gosh darn good, adds some real heft and flavor to the signal, and functions as a great comp. The fact that you can easily do wet/dry with the onboard mix knob makes this indispensable. Super easy to stereo link as well.

Product Review I have a minimal home studio setup that I have been using for years. I have just been running my mic through my Apollo Twin interface into my computer. I'd never had any experience with analog gear but after searching the web one day I found Black Lion Audio. I pulled the trigger and bought the 17 compressor, and let me just say it took my recordings to the NEXT LEVEL. It makes my home studio sound like a MILLION dollar studio. The quality, sound, and price is an absolute steal! I highly recommend you get one for your studio asap!

Product Review I was little skeptical ordering this unit, did a ton of research and after comparing to other I made the decision to get the Seventeen for the simple fact that has the functions I wanted from a compressor, I had a warm audio unit before but didn’t compare to this one and that’s why I bought this and planning already on getting an EQ, something about working with analong gear and tweaking all the knobs is fantastic!!!

Product Review Worth every dollar. I purchased 2 units and very pleased that I did. The stereo link is a really great feature. Units arrived when expected and they work exactly as expected. AMS does it again!! I'm a satisfied customer. I'll be back for more great gear soon.

Product Review I replaced my WA76 with a Hairball Audio 1176 clone. The Warm Audio had a "mid bump" that really bugged me. The Hairball unit did not have that issue, but there was something about it that bothered me, and I couldn't put my finger on it (still can't). The BLA unit gives me what I was looking for. I never owned a Urei 1176, but I have recorded with them. Is it the same, of course not. I will tell you that the BLA unit is fantastic! It tames bass guitar very, very well! Snare? Oh yeah! Crush a mono drum mic with this thing and holy smokes! Hello!!!! BUY IT!!!!

Product Review Most small studio recordists want the very best gear, yet the reality is that much of the very best gear is out of reach for the average budget. Enter the Black Lion Audio Seventeen. This solid unit is hands down the finest tubeless compressor I have found under $1000, and I routinely choose it over units in the $2k - $3k range. This feature rich, fluff free machine is a perfectionists dream; it gives me all of what I do need and none of what I don’t. Inserting the Seventeen in the signal chain results in a powerful, well behaved vocal that sits perfectly in the mix and requires little or no EQ. The front panel is beautifully designed, providing an intuitive interface for precise control of input and output parameters. The vintage style VU meter is cool and precise. Wow! Given the spec, the quality and the price, I could not be happier with my purchase. And, as always, AMS provided a seamless, enjoyable transaction experience. You want a GREAT compressor? Get a Seventeen!
