Can’t jump in without going over manual. I read things that look familiar and then went back to the beginning getting a understanding of how to move through parameters and walls! Good to go! One of my best music investments. Doing thing I never considered before.

If you’re a instrumentalist as well as singer you may really enjoy the VE 500. However, if you are vocalist looking for something to vocal fx of the TC helicon this isn’t it.
Using this as a stand alone vocal processor isn’t ideal and isn’t as user friendly. The harmonizer effect doesn’t really have a human quality. The patches don’t give enough variety. Now if you are looking for something to give you reverb and delay this will be fine for you. If you are looking for something more I would choose something else.

Great pedal! Lots of options so menu diving is a must but there is a lot of power in this little box. I'm trying to nail down programming the harmonizer to be controlled by MIDI. It's tedious but will be worth it. I've always been a fan of Boss but this is one of the more complicated I've worked with

This is a great vocal processor but there is one flaw. That flaw would be...when you are setting up specific user harmonies that require different notes other than your standard like straight 3rds and/or 5ths all the way through etc...
There IS a warble when it switches keys and it is noticible. Only for that reason...I would say it is only good for a singer/songwriter atmosphere.
Ive worked with ut for months now and...this is my conclusion.

The Boss Vocal performer was a great addition to my acoustic performances. Especially when you are using a small set up or do not have a person to help with sound. I like being able to adjust my sound, add harmonies, etc and the built in tuner is GREAT. I do wish it was a little easier to push the pedal to enable the tuner, the two buttons are a little farther away than on the previous model and I have a hard time turning it on and off.

I tried the BOSS VE-500 on a whim. I patiently tried to understand the menu system. After a few weeks using the pedal, I'm still lost on how to edit anything. It's very confusing to me and not at all a simple box to navigate. When I do get a sound, it is a good sound. Keeping for now.

Let me start off by saying I'm not a vocalist. I'm not tone deaf by any means;I just have a bad voice. I bought this for my band room and for the vocalists in my bands to use. However, after playing with this thing for a while I think I could be a vocalist. That is what this thing is capable of. I'd recommend 5 of 5 and I'd buy again.

Switched from TC Helicon Voicelive to this and was far from disappointed. The helicon had too many features I didn’t use. The Boss is user friendly and gives me the effects and noises I need at a gig!

This effect unit is a Swiss Army Knife of vocal processors - reverb, delays, compression, doubling, harmonies, vocoding, stereo output, instrument pass-through, pedal expansions, tons of memory banks, great pre-made effects, and more. It has everything I was looking for. And the USB connection and software interface is a nice touch as it allows me to quickly dial in what I'm looking for.
If I could change anything about the pedal I would maybe make the built-in display about 10% larger so it's easier to read while standing. But it's not something I would fault the product for as-is.

Received my VE-500 Friday April 3, 2020...
I set it up with my stereo vocal system using duo Fishman Acoustic Amps with Boss Stereo Pedal DD-2 Digital Delay... also had my acoustic guitar plugged into it...
I was singing, and then I pushed the harmony button on the VE-500...WOW! Breathtaking! Mesmerizing! Natural Sounding! Fantastic harmony effect! What a beautiful sound!!!
VE-500! A great addition for my Solo Acoustic Shows!!!

I got this pedal to upgrade and replace my VE-8. This is great if you're looking for a pedal that only focuses on the vocals. Three controls are extensive and the effects are top notch. The midi options are much appreciated. The only thing I had to come up terms with is that it only has xlr outs as opposed to the 1/4" and xlr outs the VE-8 had. Still worth it!

This is the only digital piece of equipment I own/use. It’s perfect for getting your vocals to cut through. You can go from mild to extremely wild with this vocal processor. I have owned it for over six months and still haven’t unlock all of its potential. Great bye would recommend it to anyone
