I have owned so many high gain Amps over the years. Marshall jvm 410 and 205. Mesa boogie dual and triple rectifiers. Peavey 6505+. Line 6 and more. This 50 watt evh 5150iii is one of the best sounding amps I've ever owned. Pair this thing with a Marshall 1960 lead cab and you'll get amazing results.

I've wanted one of these for a long time. Having been a Peavey employee years ago, and being around when the 5150 II was designed. I wanted a 5150 II back then and when Ed and Hartley parted ways everything EVH was pulled and discontinued by the time I could afford one. I debated for a long time if these amps would have the low end and punch the mighty 5150 II did because I thought there was no other amp in the world except that one! I was wrong as two left shoes too. This amp blows the Peavey out of the water to say the least. It has massive gain and power. I would suggest this to anyone wanting a kick ass tube amp, a better tone than the Peavey's, and balls to the wall power as a whole! This 50 will do it to it! If you do choose one please keep in mind you need someone to teach you how to Bias a tube amp! Don't be a know it all my friend or you could get hurt bad. It's not complicated, but one needs direction before they venture into biasing, and it's just a few safety pointers... that is key. Enjoy

Where to begin?? Simply put, this amp is the loudest 50 watt I've heard. It has amazing tone on all three channels.
Spend a little time figuring out the balance between treble and presence and the options are endless. The EVH 5150iii 50 watt is a mainstay in my arsenal of amps. Over the years I have used MARSHALL MESA ORANGE and PEAVEY and this IMHO is the one.

I picked this amp up to see what all the fuss was about. Some cool things are it is pretty light weight for a 50 watt head, pretty easy to take out and around. 3 channels clean, crunch and lead or green/blue/red. The added resonance control is nice as well as the switchable FX loop. The footswitch is very nice and feature rich with all the channel switching and fx loop on/off switching. The sounds are very good from clean to red. Low gain settings and high gain settings sound very good. If you want a low cost feature rich 3 channel amplifier that sounds great, has MIDI implementation, this is the one to get. Great buy for sure

purchased this head with the 2x12 cab for our practice studio and i am very happy with the ability to keep a reasonable volume and still feel the gain of this head. it’s cuts right through the mix on channel 2 and channel 3 is insane ( excellent drop tuning setup ). the clean channel is very usable for handle pedals well.i really appreciate the locking system that allows you to lock the head to the cab and use the built in kick stand to angle the cab upward without worrying about it tipping over. very solid setup

Best amp I own matches well the matching 212 cabinet is a great choice It also sounds great with a celestion V30 running through 112 cab. The head is very portable and very loud the eq is real responsive the concentric knobs are an upgrade compared to the earlier model's. This amp can rock, good for metal heads no problem with drop tunings for the money it's definitely a top shelf amp.

Looks incredibly sharp. Best bang for the buck ever. Sounds incredible for Van Halen style and other forms of heavy guitar rock. I will always prefer his Marshall plexi tone over anything else, but you can't beat what this amp gives you at any volume or price. I've owned this amp since his untimely demise this past October. I should have bought this amp 25 years ago. For under $1500, you simply can't find anything like it.

Ohhh been wanting one of these monsters of tone for a long time. It does Not Disappoint. Single greatest purchase I have ever made! It puts Tone at your fingertips that you never thought you would ever get!
Thing is heavy! Solid construction. Made to stay by your side for a long time! Foot channel switch is a tank.
I can’t stop playing it. Doesn’t matter if you have a PRS or a Super Strat, Tele, or a 335. It sounds Awesome.

This thing is a beast. I have to running through a koch lbx dummy load into my speaker so I can attenuate it down so I can really get the volume up. It’s pretty good for bedroom volumes as well but it really comes alive with the volume at at least 3 and up bedroom unattenuated maybe you could get it to about 1 before it’s way too load but besides that it’s great. The knobs are very responsive this one is the mark 3 I believe and it has the eccentric pots so you can get a different volume and gain for channel 1 and 2 which is brilliant I’m glad I didn’t get the prior generation where they shared that. It was a big upgrade from my Randall Rd20 just fantastic.

I’ve searched for a tone my whole life . Amp after amp . Buy then sell and trial and error, more times than I can even remember. But I’ve found the tone I’ve always wanted !!!! It better than Mesa , diesel , Saldano, Fortin , you name it .... the 5153 is the king of amps !!! And I’m a proud owner !!! You get so much more for the price too . The blue channel is great it sounds good with high gain or as a clean channel. Red channel is good for over the top high gain leads.the green channel sounds great for cleans but the only downfall of this whole amp is that there seems to be a volume drop between the green and blue channel. Overall still a very versatile amp.

As soon as I turned it on and started playing it on the overdrive channel I was blown away by how amazing it sounds. The EVH 5150 is for serious players only however, it wouldn't hurt to buy it for your first amp too. The clean channel is as smooth as butter on toast and you're not going to put your guitar down after you hear it for the first time.

Where to start. This amp simply blew me away. I've never had an amp that was so easy to find an amazing sound. I've had multiple Mesa, Marshall and Diezel amps over the years. Honestly, I'd say I actually like this one more (and it's a heck of a lot cheaper).
I was worried about the shared EQ on the clean and 1st dirty channel. Nothing to fear though. Works perfectly. 3rd channel has a TON of gain, way more than I'll ever need. I just run that gain relatively low.
The only 2 features I wish the amp had are a master volume knob and a solo boost. Definitely not deal breakers though!!!
Clean channel can be really full and real chimey. Most useful clean channel I've had on a high gain amp. 2nd channel is awesome, with a wide range of useful gain. Same for the third channel, which has even more gain. All while being able to hear every note in a chord.
If you've been looking and been hesitant, I'd encourage you to try it. It is super versatile, and I'd recommend to anyone.

Charming levels across channels and EQ selection with low noise/hiss from electrical. The volume response is power at hand and very responsive. I purchased this amp along with the 212 cabinet and an Ernie ball music Man Majesty. I immediately had issues with the Majesty not staying in tune, no matter set ups, etc. I called AMS, they promptly accepted a return and even paid my return shipping. Awesome, helpful, and spirited team at AMS. I kept the amp, and have not regretted it. The EVH 5150 is literally everything I could have asked for. ENORMOUS power, huge tone, 3 channels with 2 band EQ, it's literally the Peavey 6505 but with way crisper cleans, and the amount of overdrive it can produce is just Astounding. No need for extra overdrive pedals! AND ABSOLUTELY NO AMP "POPPING" DURING CHANNEL SWITCHES, HALLELUJAH! Purchase this amp!

I play in a 90’s alternative rock and grunge cover band. We have a pretty wide range to cover from shoegaze indie to stoner/sludge to well produced “pop grunge”.
The EVH 5150 III is the fifth amp I’ve tried over the last few years and is the only one that completely checks all the boxes for me. The effects loop is clean/transparent. The MIDI switchable channel switching feature works flawlessly with my GMajor/Ground control setup. Any crunch, dirty, high gain tone you can think of is possible to achieve. The clean channel is clean, loud, and takes fuzz pedals better than ANYTHING else I’ve tried. Need extra thud? It’s got the resonance control on the back to help you dial in your sound.
I currently run through a small 1x12 cabinet with a V30. It gives me THE tone I’ve been fighting for. Put it through a 4x12 and the sound only get richer and bigger.
This is the first time in 15 or 20 years that I’ve been so happy with an amplifier that I’ve not once contemplated selling or trading it.
Don’t second guess yourself. You’ve watched the YouTube videos. You’ve heard sound clips. You’ve read reviews and gear blogs. Just go for it.
Oh yea, AMS payment plan option made this a NO BRAINER. Easy payments with no interest?? You really don’t have a reason to pass this up.

Look no further. It’s no wonder why this amp is one of the most popular amps for Rock and Metal. Not that it’s just limited to those two genres. Glad I waited to get the updated version with separate concentric knobs for the gain and volume on channels 1 and 2. Love this amp and already in the process of getting a head/rack road case built for it. Hard to be beat.

I normally don’t care a lot about Artist model gear. I believed you were mostly paying for a name until this beautiful beast landed at my doorstep. This amp is worth every penny and sounds soooo good, just do yourself a favor and get yourself one . Dial up some of this crispy distortion and float on a sonic pillow with the guitar of your choice. The matching cabinet blends perfectly with the head. I chose the beautiful cream colored set. Get yours soon, and I promise you won’t regret it!

The new 5150 is a great amp, nice clean channel and great gain. I use an MXR 10 band EQ to fine tune it and it sounds great. I love the new upgrade with the dual concentric knobs as well. I also bought the 2 x 12 cabinet and it makes for a great rig!

I originally purchased the EL34 model and was totally unhappy with the blue channel, but after receiving the 6L6 my problem was solved. This amp has 3 versatile channels, with each picking up where the other leaves off. Clean can be dialed from sparkling to slightly pushed. Blue can be dialed from pushed to hard rock gain. Red can be dialed from hard rock to vicious metal. I’m playing mine through a Mesa vertical 2x12 and it thumps, even at room volume. I give it 4 stars only because it lacks a master volume knob, which is kind of annoying, since you’re forced to re-calibrate all 3 channel volumes. Still, it’s something I can live with. What I’m concerned with most is tone, and this thing has it. Went with ivory and it looks great. Thanks AMS.

Upon opening everything was shipped and so secure so I had absolutely no worries of damage through transit then I plugged her in. Not even tweaking any tone settings and she rips. I would recommend this to pros and beginners alike. This amp is so versitile with the clean channel and huge sounding with the red. I can’t say enough GREAT things!!!
