This Fender Strat plays and sounds great. It feels like
a high quality instrument. Feels different from many other strats with the 12" Fretboard radius paired with the thick Oval neck but it plays great for me! Would highly recommend to anyone who is a fan SRV's style.

The combination of features may not be for everyone but I love it. Tall frets and fatter neck might turn some off but if it’s your bag then this thing is a fantastic guitar. The Texas Special pickups are hotter and bring the tone you expect from a strat with SRV initials on it.
This guitar makes me dig into it and that is a good thing. The reverse trem is not as obtrusive as one might think. You can definitely ‘hear’ the vibe!

Product Review
Start off by saying this fact. The older SRV strats are just better for actual players. The newer versions all seem to have very close E strings and will fall off the fretboard as you play. Note: The Gold Tuners are made in Japan. Same for the Clapton Strat. Kinda odd because we get Schaller Tuners on the American standards so i have never truly understood this fact? Fender Please update these to USA Tuners as they should be. The SRV Strat does have a very large neck size that most of us love! If you get a good one just keep it as they do have tone. Just not sure we should all like the Japan parts on any USA Model. The Profile is 12 Inch radius but SRV actually played a 7.25 Neck that had been re-fretted so much it might have been close to a 9.5 as the neck ended it's playing days and was replaced with another neck. Lets not forget SRV played 1959 pickups in a 1963 Body with a 1962 rosewood neck. Texas special pickups sound good but still don't cover the raw tone of what SRV Actually played and used live. As far as Today's Fender strat's models this one has a great size neck perhaps for some to large but this guitar lacks to much to be used on tour or as an only guitar such as studio working staff. The American Standard as of 1987 is still our best choice for any Stratocaster player / lover and if that is having setbacks simply try the Jeff Beck Model and you will be all set.

Product Review
I ordered this guitar being a huge Stevie Ray Vaughan fan. The delivery was faster than I had expected. Once I finally had it in my hands I immediately noticed the neck and fretboard feeling absolutely amazing. Plugged it into my 65 Deluxe Reverb and started playing and 3 words come to mind. OH MY GOSH! This guitar plays amazingly. American Musical was easy fast and friendly to deal with and word recommend anyone looking for their next musical need to check them out.... they gained a lifetime customer with me!!!!! Sounds just like Stevie out of the box. This guitar has a "punch in your face" tone. Im running it through a 59 bassman reissue and only pedal is an ibenaz tube screamer (ts808) pushing the front end of the amp. UNBELIEVABLE sound. The tall dunlop 6150 frets are a dream. The spacing between the strings is a bit wider than the standard Strats. The neck shape may take some time to get used too, but it plays very well and easy for my taste. The craftsmanship of the guitar is very good (what you should expect from this price range) Also, I will add, the ease of the purchase and delivery from AMS was second to none. Well done!

When I first heard Stevie’s version of “Little Wing” oh so long ago I knew I had to learn to play. Finally after feeding my obsession, (but feeding my family first) I was able to get one of these tribute strays. So worth the wait for me. The guitar arrived very quickly and looks amazing. Fit and finish is perfect. I’m really pleased with the Texas Special pups. I did change the strings and set it up to my preference, but that typical of any guitar I buy. I highly recommend this guitar not only for an SRV fan, but if you’d just like a great sounding Strat. This is the 2nd or 3rd time buying from American Musical and I will most definitely use them again. Just a great way to get gear without being hassled.

I love this guitar! Best guitar I have ever purchased. I own several stratocasters and can’t put this one down. Great quality Towne and feel. I love the neck on this thing! This will be passed on to my son on his 16th birthday. He’s not even 2 years old and always asks to see Stevie.

Just fantastic. Full disclosure, I've wanted one of these guitars since i was 16. 20 years later I finally get my hands on one.
If you want heaps of sustain, it is right here. The pickups are very bright and twangy! visually the guitar is gorgeous, with zero flaws.
This guitar feels different in the spacing of its strings (more space between) than my other guitars, which is taking some getting used to. but by design, it gives you the space to perform really wild full step bends. I could see this guitar being great to support chicken pickin' as well, i It is really a great player, which you would expect when you get to this price point.
I know that the SRV pickguard is a point of contention for people and some remove it, but I think it looks great.
I believe having the right guitar for the right style of music is important, and have a few different guitars for different needs. but this one? You are going to get into the blues and be inspired when picking it up and practicing.

Product Review
I can't say enough about the sound and quality of this guitar. I did my homework before settling on the SRV Strat and couldn't be happier about my decision to purchase one.
Very high quality. My focus is blues and rock which this guitar nails. I could see it being able to play some more modern stuff as well.
I bought this guitar purposely for the neck. I prefer 50"s style Les Paul necks and this was the closest I could get on a strat. After much jamming with this guitar I'm amazed at the tone. I was looking for a big chunky neck and that's exactly what this guitar has.
The tone possibilities are numerous. You have a 5 position pickup switch, a volume knob, and two tone knobs. The pickups sound great and definitely can provide that texas blues tone with no problem. I haven't experimented much but I'm confident I can dial in anything I need. For me this guitar tone is warm and buttery.
The 3 color sunburst was awesome. Very deep and rich. The pictures on the website were good but to see this guitar in person is a whole different wonderful experience.
I got a little more than what I was expecting for the price. I'm not saying this guitar is the deal of a lifetime but I think if you do your homework you will find that this guitar is a lot of bang for the buck.
Darn near perfect. I was amazed how easily I was able to slide up to notes and bend strings. My vibrato was a bit of a surprise to me. I wasn't expecting the notes to sustain as awesome as they did. Very happy with the action right out of the box.

This thing is a beast!
Top Notch
Um ya its a Fender!
The tone is amazing. Great for blues and rock. And the tonal difference between the pickups is incredible.
I would prefer a satin neck, but other than that.
I do think you can find the same sound in other lower budget guitars, but this is an SRV!
Action was great out of the box. I little bit higher than normal for me, but I expected that since SRV played with it a bit higher.

Fender makes great products but there were small quirks with standard upkeep but nothing big, however now the guitar works great.
Are you kidding it's a 100% American strat
Had it set once about three years ago, after playing it 4 years continuously
I've had mine for over two years now and it's worked out well but then again if you take care of your gear it will last.
Your general opinion of this product.
Great product, really love it
Your general opinion of this product.
Great Blues Guitar
It's heavy for a strat but I like em that way and the neck is lightning fast
controls were easy to work with, the guitar is perfect for my tastes and I love the oval neck.
The tone is thick like mud, but it will play on the high end
bright, hot, and heavy.
Awesome and the older it gets the better it looks
A Lil high but I like em' LOW !!!
needed my personal setup

verywell made &she has never let me down. she even fell out of the stand one night on to a cement floor i picked her up re tuned and we was as good as new
great i had it set up a few times after i bought it but i also went from 10 gauge to a heavy 11+(earnie ball beefy slinky)she's 8 now&
hasn't been set up at all for 7 years&is still true
Your general opinion of this product.
great, well built axe.very easy to get along with.it really lovrs those vintage tube amps
the neck is fat but fast just like i like it.i have big hands so i like thicker necks as far as controls,it is a strat so you have to watch the volume knob till you get use to it or you'll be turning it down all the time
alot depends on your rig.all&all for me it is the best blues tone you can get,h*ll if you
want you can play some classic rock,no country, to thick that's why i also own a tele
great
a little high

Great guitar poor quality control.
By: Karl from California
Submitted: 2/5/2008
Your general opinion of this product.
QUALITY:
The quality control for this product is poor as far as set up goes. The bridge and the neck were not set up to factory specs. When I pay a premium price I expect premium quality.
FEATURES:
Other then the set up, this is a great guitar. I am saving all the little extras that came in the case for futture resale.
EASE OF USE:
Ease of use is out the window if you do not have the knowledge or the ability to set this guitar up correctly.
VALUE:
Like I stated before in the quality section, if I pay a premium price I expect premium quality.
SOUND:
After I resolved the set up issues this guitar palyed and sounded great. Deffinately a great addition to any guitar lovers collection.
