I was looking for a boost with a little overdrive, to run into the front of my Friedman JJ Jr Combo, to give both channels the "thump" I've needed from my Jr. Well, after dialing down the amps gain, and finding the best settings on my Pearl, I couldn't be happier. I had just about given up on having the tone from my JJ that I wanted. However with this Golden Pearl, I'm now very happy and this pedal it will not leave my pedal board.

I was looking for a new pedal to push my Origin Effects Revival Drive when I came upon the Golden Pearl. After watching all of the demo videos I could find I decided to pull the trigger. That was a great move. Even though there are dozens of "transparent" overdrives on the market, this one really nails it. The two switches really help fine tune the response and the amount of detail that is revealed is amazing. It truly "enhances" the sound of the RD which is already excellent and takes it's tone to another level. It's really inspirational to play through. The only problem I could see with the GP is the fact that a less than stellar tone might be magnified in an honest but unflattering way much like a fine microphone can reveal problems with the source. If you have a good sound this pedal will make it great.
